We went into Deal and took Ellie along the sea front, Of course she had a swim.

Then a little shopping. From there we went on to Petticoat Lane and I managed to get a Christmas present but now can’t decided whether to use it for a Secret Santa or send it to Margaretha in north Cyprus. I’ll see what else I manage to find another day.

I planted a few bulbs in the garden and Mal went to the allotment.

I was at Demelza for the day and we did quite well.

We walked Ellie and then went into Margate to meet Tris and Violet. We went for coffee first along the sea front.

There is now a sea bathing machine on Margate sea front.

This one contains a sauna so you can use it and then cool off in the sea and a November day like today, people were using it.

 

Tris told us of a new Thai restaurant we could go to for lunch, Mama Jinny’s. I love Thai food but sadly I have to say it was the worst Thai meal I have ever had. Mal ate half of it and mixed it in with his which had some flavour! That was a shame. Possibly a bad choice on my part. Margate is now geared up for the hipsters from London, maybe our taste buds differ!

Later back home we watched the England game.

We always walk through the cemetery when we take Ellie out and it was nice to see this morning that they have been round pruning all the rose bushes. I planted one next to Torin’s head stone and obviously part of the payment we make is to tend to the rose bushes as well as keeping everything else neat and tidy.  I was going to do it  but now I don’t have to. Later we planted another rose on the other side, seeing as no one seems to mind. This is the new one.

I like the old fashioned roses and they have to be “very fragrant” or they don’t seem worth the bother! I love to smell the garden!  The other one I planted has had so many flowers on it during the summer.

We went into Deal and I ordered some new trainers and they are going to deliver them. They are Clarks which I had already bought but they had a fault. I have to say the Manager was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. A good way to get your customers coming back . Customer service seems very rare nowadays.

We then watched Tsitsipas beat Federer in the tennis.

We take Ellie to the sea at least once a week and today was the day! The walk along the beach was windy but OK. Walking back along the cliff top with the wind into our faces was a different matter. We had to battle against the wind! Ellie enjoyed it. At least it didn’t rain even though it looked as though it may.

At least it blew the cobwebs away.

In the evening we watched Children in Need. It does make you feel very grateful for what you have.

After taking Ellie, we drove to collect Mal’s sister Marion as it was her 70th birthday. We struggled to think of what she would really like and then as well as a couple of other presents, we would buy her an annual ticket for Wingham Wildlife Park. She was thrilled and loves the animals. It was a shame that it was a cold day and intermittent rain. We went to see the indoor animals when it rained. The important thing was Marion loved it. She has always had problems so it was nice to see her enjoying herself. I was frozen by the time we left!!

We then took her for a meal.

In the evening we watched the England match. A good game with a good young team showing a lot of promise.

We took Ellie out in the morning, a little colder than previous days.

I met up with the Hatters and we had lunch at Lesters in Margate. I sat at the opposite end of the table to Jackie which meant we could talk to more people. We had a few ideas of places to go but everyone seemed to be thinking of Christmas and so Jackie and I agreed to wait until January.  We only have our Christmas lunch in December left for this year.

I think Louella’s dog will come in a red hat next meeting!
