Lou and Rhys booked two airport runs for the same time so I went round at 4.30am to be with the kids while they both went off with their fares.  The kids are very good and just get up and sort themselves out. I came home as soon as Lou returned, stopping at the new Sainsbury’s they have just opened in Beltinge.

Mal and I then took Ellie out for a walk. I meant to take my hat with me and wish I had as in spite of the sun being out, the wind was bitterly cold. Ellie enjoyed it, she likes the wind in her ears.

In the evening I made my mind up to rejoin Slimming World. I gave up a few years ago as they charge when you don’t go and we were spending a lot of time in Cyprus. But three all inclusive holidays and Christmas and I feel I need a bit of an incentive to lose some pounds! Things have changed a bit since the last time I went. It was really busy, about 40 people there. I have no excuse as it is literally 5 minutes walk. I just have to retrain my brain!

Today is the day they are running the ‘experiment’ of using Manston airport as a lorry park (in case after March they get gridlock at Dover. Well, there should have been 150 and only 75 turned up. The lorry drivers were paid £550 each for joining in and a helicopter was circling for much of the morning and there were Police around the area, even one at Sandwich roundabout. Who was paying for this ridiculous farcical exercise? Rhys drove past there and said it was no different than it normally was. What a waste of money.

Demelza day and it wasn’t until late afternoon that I realised I was writing 2018 on the tickets! Oh dear. At least we took a lot of money.

Lou and the littlies came round for Sunday lunch. I cooked Goulash for a change and also cooked liver and bacon as Mal and Rhys love it. It seems Ollie and Oscar like the liver too! I always send the leftover desserts home with them!

I went shopping early but there didn’t seem many people around. I had to collect some plastic storage boxes from Wilko, so we WILL organise the loft! Bit by bit. I still have masses of Torin’s things to sort and also the twins things that were at his house, even though we are not allowed to see them, of course we will keep everything in the hope Torin’s ex comes to her senses, for their sakes….and for ours, we miss them and we used to have such fun together. We had nothing back regarding the box of Christmas presents we sent them but we know the parcel arrived. How very sad. I really hope their mother gave the presents to them. Who knows. We are keeping records of everything so that one day they will know the truth, that we will never give up.

I went to Torin’s grave and removed all the Christmas things I put on it. I have a viola plant and it is still going strong and flowering, so that is still there.

A very cold day and there was frost on the ground. Ellie loves the cold and as soon as she was on the field, she rolled on the frosty grass!  She loved it.

Mal and I then drove to Ramsgate to Petticoat Lane Emporium. It’s a while since we have been there and it is always interesting. Some things are ridiculously expensive and others very cheap, you just spend ages looking for them. We bought a crystal fruit bowl, a crystal mustard pot along with a silver spoon and a numbered plate, limited edition. The whole lot was under £10. There is also a dress shop there where I bought a scarf.

The only problem was that it was freezing in there as it is  in an old warehouse. We’ll go back another day. It must be the coldest day this winter.

I can’t believe what is going on with preparations for Brexit. They are going to have a practice with 150 HGV’s at Manston airport on Monday morning. It will be total chaos AND as for Seaborne at Ramsgate port….madness. They don’t even own any boats!

After taking Ellie we went to Westwood. I took my car to have a proper clean as it hasn’t been done for ages. Mal and I went and had lunch in the Hooden Horse while we were waiting. It’s where Rhys and I often go and Mal hadn’t been so he wanted to try. He had steak and kidney pie, it was huge!

We had a walk in the country park on the way home, this is Pegwell from Sandwich.
