I took Ellie out for her walk very early so that she missed the heat.

Lou dropped Ollie, Oscar and Josie off with us, they are staying until tomorrow.  Mal took them to the allotment and I painted some of the wood in the back garden until the sun became far too hot and it was on my back. That’s when they came back from the allotment too. They picked so many runner beans for dinner.

We had lunch, their usual when they have rolls and can use whatever filling mixtures they like!

They then made a fresh fruit flan for dinner and then we went round to Sandwich Festival. It was nothing like it usually is and the fact some residents suggested cancelling the whole thing, I think a lot of people just didn’t bother because of Lucas. That’s a shame.

Back home and Ellie’s turn for some fun. They all took her over the field to play football and ball with her. Dinner and then movies.

Mal took Ellie out and I hit the shops at Westwood leaving home at 7.30! I had a couple more bits to get for the paving laying and also food for three hungry grandchildren! The traffic was piling up as I was on my way home.

In the afternoon I hosed down all out the back, ready for some more painting. Mal cleaned and hosed all the front.

A change in the weather, it was really quite hot when we took Ellie.

I drove to Margate to meet up with the Red Hatter Ladies. We had lunch at the Promenade. The food wasn’t that good and quite honestly the staff had a real attitude. Not a nice place to go. The car park is free for 3 hours but evidently the camera times you as you enter and if you are even a second over the time it is £100 fine. I stood out in the car park chatting to Jackie and her husband before we even went in, so to be on the safe side I asked one of the staff what time I had entered. “We can’t tell you that”!! How helpful is that?! Not at all. So, we had our meal and  I decided to move my car. The station car park was full and it took me half an hour to find an alternative…..I refuse to pay £9 at Dreamland.

It was hot and I had a long way to walk back to the girls and Dreamland. More problems when we arrived there as the girl who scans our tickets “was at lunch”. So, we went for an ice cream first.

Fran and I went and complained and were passed to three more people all with a different story until we got very loud and they let us in!!!  We had paid £8.50 each with the promise that someone from the cast would be in attendance…..not today! And it was supposed to be open all day.

Once in it was quite interesting, we all love Only Fools and Horses.

On the way home I had to go and collect edging, an angle grinder and goodness knows what else for when the paving in the garden is going to be done next week. It’s not helpful having a bank holiday and the roads were packed. I usually keep away from the coast around bank holidays and of course this will be the last one this year with a promise of good weather. Margate was not the place to be!

The search goes on for Lucas.

Ellie’s walk was a little longer, gradually building her up but as it was warmer, she seemed as though she was struggling a little on the last bit.

So very sad to say that a body has been found which they believe is Lucas. It has now been confirmed.

Later we went in search of paving slabs for the back garden as the decking is rotting. I also wanted some more Cuprinol. £16, so I remembered Wickes Price Promise, found it in Screwfix(online) for £10 so that is the price I bought it for in Wickes. Always worth looking, as long as you say where it is cheaper and you can find that out easily online.

Mal went to the allotment for more weeding. I sorted some of the garden out, ready for painting woodwork.

The search still goes on for Lucas.  I drove past the fire station this morning and so many cars and so many donations of food for the searchers. People are so kind. I was on my way to my counsellor and although draining she is very good and I know it is helping.

It is Sandwich Festival at the weekend and on the Bank Holiday there is always a huge duck race on the river which raises an enormous amount of money for charities.  Understandably, this has now been postponed.

On my way home from the counsellor I called in at Birchington and found two really nice tops to buy.

At last my sunflowers are flowering, you can see how tall they are, way above the fence. I have 10 of them! It’s a little like the Day of the Triffids out there! I think mine must be bigger than Ollie. Oscar and Josie’s!

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon and this is small amount of today’s produce.

The 6 year old boy Lucas who fell in the river yesterday is still missing but what a lovely community we live in. So many local businesses helping out to feed the people who are searching. Rather a coincidence that Teresa, who I was on the SOS committee with in north Cyprus still owns Ossie’s fish and chip shop in Sandwich and she was very quick to offer free food and drink. Teresa still lives in north Cyprus. Hopefully we will meet up on one of her trips back.

The search was called off when it was dark but started very early this morning with a meeting at the Fire Station at 9 am. So hope Lucas is somewhere safe.

Ossie’s fish and chip shop are making sandwiches for the volunteers and are appealing for bottled water to keep the searchers hydrated. Lou is bringing a crate over to Ossies. ‘Goats That Dance’ coffee shop are also supplying hot drink runs. During the day more businesses offered help.
