Maybe Spring really is early, we didn’t even needs coats on our walk with Ellie.

In the afternoon the Red Hatters and I all went to the Police Panto. They put one on each year just to raise money for charity. They only do it for a couple of days and we go every year and always get a mention by the cast.

Two of the Hatters went out in the interval to top up their parking money. The minimum anywhere in Margate now is £1 per hour. I have always parked in a car park a little way from the theatre and it was always good value, not any more there have been new machines fitted everywhere.

The snow moon was overnight. It appeared very large and very bright.

Violet and Tris came just before lunch time. After lunch we all went for a walk to Gazen Salts with Ellie.

In the evening we went to Kent Uni to see Fairport Convention.

We arrived in the car park, I stepped over a low fence, next thing Mal was behind me, flat on the floor. That’s bifocals for you!! He didn’t quite focus right. I think he was more embarrassed than anything else as there were a lot of people around. He did hurt his leg.

Fairport’s support was “The 4 of Us” which was in fact two Irish fellas! Here they are in the line up with Fairport.

I must be one of Fairport’s longest standing fans but I have to say we didn’t feel they were so good tonight. Maybe they are getting old and are in the middle of a tour. Also it was moved from the Gulbenkian to the Collier Ferguson theatre and the acoustics and atmosphere were nowhere near as good.

Mal walked out before the interval and missed about 4 numbers and I have to say I was worried after his fall that he wasn’t well. At the interval I discovered he couldn’t move his leg so had to go for a walk!

We took Ellie to Minnis Bay. It was supposed to be high tide at midday and we arrived about 10.30 and then realised it is getting near to Spring tide and so was much higher than normal. Ellie found a little girl to play with!  Mal was chatting to her dad while his daughter played with Ellie, throwing her ball into the sea for her.

We stopped at the butchers on the way home. They now have a loyalty scheme there.

Mal sorted out my car insurance, we are now on top of everything before they run out!  He found a cheaper quote and so phoned our insurance company to see if they could match it  for the same benefits.  Certainly worth doing as they dropped it £70, just like that!  My insurance isn’t that expensive anyway as my car is now getting old.

I was trying to sort out bookings for the Hatters. People are not actually committing which makes it difficult to book. At the moment it is The Bodyguard to go and see in May.

Demelza day. We had quite a good day. Jack was on holiday and so Robert was in. We seemed to sell a lot of hats but then all the “wedding” are 25% off so a good time to buy. Fran and I even found a red hat each!

Thankfully Josie is feeling a little better but has been sick again in the night.

Such a lovely day again so we decided to go for a 10k walk down to Sandwich Bay. It is a sort of circular walk cutting across The Royal St George’s Golf course. Yes, it IS a public footpath! Of course Ellie went into the sea and also a very muddy lake she found by the sheep on the way back. One of the golfers even talked to us, that was a first they are usually giving us black looks.

The last part of the walk back along by the river we saw Mr & Mrs Mandarin Duck

Back home and it was extremely warm in the conservatory again. It’s nice to feel the heat.

For dinner I decided to cook a dish I hadn’t cooked in a long while, I used to do it a lot in Cyprus. Nigella Lawson’s Mother’s Praised chicken. It’s very easy, in one large frying pan and sort of does the cooking itself. No hassle.

We took Ellie out and Lou called to say that Josie had been ill in the night and she was taking her to the doctors, so she would have to bring my car the following day. Don’t ask me why we didn’t think of this before but we then said we could catch the bus! Firstly Mal said we could get the train but it would have cost £25!! I suggested the bus as we have our bus passes. So, we caught the bus into Canterbury and did a little shopping there and then the next bus to Herne Bay and the bus stop was very near their house. I think my car has been an absolute pain for Lou. Rhys has had airport runs and goodness knows what else.  Josie has a temperature and had been sick so we weren’t going to stop and risk any germs.

At least now my car is out of their way and they don’t have to think about it any more.

Nice to see this on the news this morning, just had to be a Goldie!

We arranged for Lou to collect my car, bring it over to us and we were going to meet Rhys and go for lunch with them. The best laid plans……the car had a puncture. Rhys went to the rescue and they took the car back to the garage. It needed a new tyre, they suggested that the overnight roadworks on the dual carriageway could be the cause.

Another lovely day and warm enough to sit in the garden.
