Rhys wants to do more on the garden tomorrow so Mal and I went to buy some Top soil, wooden stakes and turf. We looked it up and Wickes was the cheapest place for top soil. It was £2 a bag there. When we arrived we couldn’t find any even though according to the internet they had 27 there in stock. They had some there £5 a bag, the same size. We asked one of the assistants. No they only had the £5 one (same stuff!) We showed her on the phone, 27 in stock. It was very much like the Cyprus shrug then….in other words she couldn’t care less so we asked her to explain why the internet said they had some and she was saying they hadn’t.
So, we asked for the Manager. She replied that the Manager wasn’t in today. OK, whoever was in charge. We waited and waited and finally a girl came out and asked what the problem was. We told her and very begrudgingly she agreed we could have them for £2 a bag! It all seemed a bit of a con to us. At least we now have the top soil, turf and posts. That will keep Rhys going for a while. I can’t say it did my work horse car much good. There was a lot of weight in it.
Mal then continued with the painting and I went to collect Ellie and clean the car out and collect some lunch. More painting for the rest of the afternoon.
In the evening we watched Zoe Ball with her fund raising bike ride. I know I sat and cried all the way through it but had to watch it when she had made such a tremendous effort to raise awareness for suicide. Bless her.
