We were up early, Ellie walked and then up to Wickes to buy a new water butt. The old one was some of the problem of the rotten decking. More paint to buy and we returned one unopened where we had overestimated. That’s fine I had the receipt and that would come off the new things we had bought. When I checked the new receipt, she hadn’t refunded enough money!! I’ve no idea what happens to people who never check their receipts. I used to think this was only in Cyprus.
Lou and Rhys arrived for the day to help us. Rhys did more in the garden, pressure jetting the decking that is left in situ while Lou did masses of gloss painting. She is much better than me and doesn’t groan when she has been crawling on the floor for the skirting boards like I do. I had also been using trade woodwork matt paint that was highly recommended and it was useless so we bought gloss. Even Steve , the previous night, said he had stopped using it as it was awful and he used to teach decorators.
