Torin had to get back home and so they left fairly early.

Lou and Rhys invited us over to theirs for my third birthday celebration, for a BBQ. As soon as we arrived Rhys said quick, quick, I have a surprise for you in the garden and what a lovely surprise it was too……my wounded soldier, Tariq! I was so happy to see him. He has been sent home on crutches for 3 weeks complete rest and then back to Hunter for 17 weeks of rehabilitation. He had been there a couple of days and they had kept it as a surprise for me. Poor boy had travelled on public transport from Devon, across London with his case and he is on crutches.

He is gutted because he wanted to be the youngest marine passing out but he won’t be now and obviously his platoon progresses without him and when he is finally fit he will join another platoon. When he finishes he won’t be sent on assignments with his best friends, so perhaps it’s all good experience for him now.

So, Rhys did a lovely BBQ, far too much food as usual! River and his girlfriend came over too. It was really sunny and warm so after the food we all walked down to the pier where the littlies went on some of the rides, we all had a ‘beer on the pier’ and Ellie had an ice cream. It was a lovely afternoon.
