I have to say we are up early. I wake in the very early hours and cant just lay there, so we both seem to be up early. We took Ellie out and then waited in for our Cyprus belongings to arrive. Mid morning as they said but there was just one man. We have an enormous pine trunk which was full of “stuff” so Mal had to help him. We now have our Persian rug back. We packed in such a hurry that we just tied it with rope, didn’t think of covering it so it is rather dirty where it has been in the container. Now we have double of many things!

At least I have a whole life time of slides and photos back here.  All those boxes will keep us busy.

Poor Rhys was going to come round but he had violent tooth ache and had to go to the emergency dentist. The tooth will have to come out but meanwhile he has to have really strong antibiotics. I know he is getting run down. I know he is struggling sleeping, after all he has lost his big brother. Lou has been accepted for the Brighton Marathon and so she is running for Headway in Torin’s memory. We will all have to go with her in April to support her. She has never run a marathon before.

I went for an early morning swim.

We then walked Ellie and then on to breakfast. Ellie does like the breakfast bit as when we have finished I save her some sausage and bacon! I think she loves coming away with us. The hotel and staff have been so good.

We packed our things and then went and had another wander around Rye. I love the addresses there!

The last place to visit, my favourite fish shop, everything fresh. So we bought sea bass, prawns and crabs.

Josie is just like her nanny and loves shellfish so we took it all straight round to them. We had also bought some chocolate for the kids but Josie preferred the prawns!

A really nice break, doesn’t make things go away but a break at least. We had an email to say all our boxes arrive from Cyprus tomorrow!! Our house and Rhys’s house are both overflowing already with Torin’s things. We’ll find the room!

Mal cooked sea bass for dinner. He does it stuffed with ginger and spring onions and it was so good.

Mal and I came away to a country hotel just outside Rye to spend a couple of days having a rest. For now I will just say that on 17th October our eldest son Torin died. When we have more strength we will be creating a website of his life and fundraising events for our chosen charity, Headway We also have a memorium page for him

We are both tired and sad. Of course that doesn’t explain the pain but we must carry on. Maybe this diary will be some sort of therapy.

I have had so many messages asking me to continue my diary so I will try. I know it is no longer on the island of Cyprus but we just live on another island and very close to the Isle of Thanet.

So, now we are staying in a lovely Georgian country hotel. We love Rye and thought of staying in one of the town’s hotels but then decided it would be far nicer with Ellie, to stay a little bit out and surrounded by 5 acres of gardens.

We booked a standard room because most hotels only allow dogs in their standard rooms. What a pleasant surprise when we discovered we had a free upgrade and also to find out they allow dogs in all rooms and doggy treats on arrival! The previous day we wandered around Rye and then went to our favourite cafe for lunch, the Corridor cafe. It has changed hands since our last visit but they still welcome dogs.

Following today’s breakfast (dogs are allowed to join us in the bar where they set tables up for us) we headed for Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. Lots of dog walkers but it was so cold. Probably exactly what we needed to blow the cobwebs away. On the way back we called into the information centre and chatted to a really knowledgeable volunteer.

After our very long walk we were frozen and so called into the William the Conqueror to warm up and decided to stay for lunch.
It was quite funny because there were a lot of Cypriot dishes on the menu. No wonder the owner and chef is a Greek Cypriot! Of course another dog friendly pub!

More walking in the afternoon, such lovely countryside surrounding us. We ate in the hotel the previous night and so decided to walk to The Cock pub in the evening (yes, another dog friendly!) This seemed a really good idea as it meant I could have a glass of wine or two as I didn’t have to drive but we hadn’t realised there were no street lights! It was OK when your eyes became adjusted to the dark and then a car would drive past and it took a while for your eyes to adjust back again!
