Mal planted some seeds in his Wingham allotment while Ellie and I paced it out around the orchards.I only have one more day after today to do my 10,000 steps.

The apricot blossom is all over the trees and they also have the bees in position for pollination.

Ellie and I even saw the Easter Bunny!

What a change from yesterday’s sunny weather, in the afternoon we went to Wingham Wildlife Park and it really was cold and windy. Of course that meant that a lot of the animals chose to stay indoors. We did watch the tigers being fed. They have both been hand reared.

The chimpanzees coming from the US have still not arrived. They do however have a wonderful new home to come to.

We watched the football in the evening. At least England won!

An awful lot of my 10,000 steps counted this morning in Sandwich. It was such a lovely morning it was easy to keep walking in the sun! I do count them with my phone.

 

Mal is becoming a grumpy old man about all the building in this country and all the green belt that is disappearing, it appears without anyone really caring, while the rich get richer selling their land and making huge profits. So, when he saw this construction next to the beautiful river in Sandwich he went off on one again …….until we read the sign. So, something positive. It’s surprising what happens in two and a half weeks away!

Planet Thanet Beer Festival is on this weekend. I really couldn’t face another one, as driver, sitting there drinking water!! Thankfully Mal’s youngest son, Dom wanted to meet him there. I dropped him off. I know there was a really good jazz band last year but I would rather not go.

I collected Mal when it finished and he said quite honestly there were far too many beers and he would rather go to the smaller festivals that the local pubs put on! I think he must be mellowing with age. I also expected him to want to go again the following day but he said one night was enough! He did however enjoy the time spent with Dom as we don’t see Gemma and Dom nearly enough seeing as they live so close to us. People all have such busy lives nowadays.

There was the most amazing moon on the way home. Of course this is how they determine Easter. It is on the first Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon following the spring equinox, meaning it can be celebrated on a Sunday between 22 March and 25 April. They are now trying to change this so it is no longer variable.

In the UK, an act of Parliament passed in 1928 allowed for Easter Sunday to be fixed on the first Sunday after the second Saturday in April.

However, this has never been activated and Easter has remained variable, determined by the moon’s cycle.

Villa for Sale in North Cyprus

This morning’s long walk was from Minnis Bay. It was really warm and of course Ellie loved it in the sea.

In the afternoon I went into Canterbury, as usual the traffic was horrendous. I had to buy some hot cross buns and Marks and Spencer have every variety you could imagine. I didn’t buy too many!!

Mal went to his allotment.

I managed to catch up with ‘Happy Valley’ in the evening.

Mal and I were out with Ellie, doing my 10.000 steps. Third day now. It really looks as though Spring has sprung while we have been away. I even saw the first bluebells.

Ellie loved seeing all her horsey friends.

I have to say that I always look forward to meeting up with the Red Hatter Ladies. We are the Krimson Krinklees chapter. In the afternoon we were partaking in Afternoon Tea at The Comfort Inn , Ramsgate. It was all very lady like  with bone china cups and saucers and tiered cake plates. Very civilised but sadly Pauline and Jean were unable to join us. I do hope you get well soon Jean. We had a lovely afternoon but didn’t get around to planning much for the future, so we are going to meet again in two weeks for lunch.

Well it was all happening in the morning. Torin was coughing a lot of the night, serious coughing and then waking up not being able to breathe properly. I guess the antibiotics will kick in soon. Then Karen phoned, Scarlet had just had one of her “episodes” and she was waiting for the ambulance, so can we collect Jack from school. A good thing we have just had a holiday!

Today is the day I start my week of 10,000 steps a day for charity!! So a very long walk all over the common, a good excuse to walk the dogs again.

Then I did a big house clean obviously Torin has been ill for about a week now and has had no energy to do anything.

Later we went to the school to collect Jack and took him home. We had a password to tell his teacher as we hadn’t been to the school before, she didn’t even ask, I guess Jack was shouting that’s my nanny and grandad as he was the first one out!!

Scarlet was out of hospital by the time we arrived home but felt very tired. Bless her.

We woke up early only to discover that Torin had to be taken to the emergency doctors last evening as he couldn’t breath and as I have said he is really ill. So, he has a chest infection, severe bronchitis and flu. He was coughing most of the night and also being sick. So, today Mal and I took the dogs out as they are used to very long walks which they haven’t been having. Millie needs her energy running off as anyone who knows Springer Spaniels will know.

I then went to shop as Torin hasn’t been able to go out for 5 days. We popped round to see Scarlet and Jack in the afternoon while Torin slept. I have now turned into nurse/nagging mum! He is hardly eating or drinking. I also caught up with some of his washing etc. He has been in a bad way and on his own.
