I drove Mal to Warwick Uni straight after breakfast. It also seems weird going back there as I worked for the Students Union there 46 years ago! Those were the days when I used to do a lot of work for the Social Secretary and then she gave me free tickets to all their events!  A lot of the big groups.

Back to the hotel and packed all our things up and then Ellie and I went for a walk to town and then on to the park.

Mal finished his meeting quite early and back to Torin’s. They were all doing acrobatics in the garden. Daddy showing off that he may be nearly 44 but is fit!

I took Mal to Warwick Uni and then Ellie and I went to Priory Park as it was such a lovely day. She has a good run around and I just managed to call her back before she jumped in the lake. Another lady I spoke to wasn’t so lucky, her black lab dived in and caught and ate a fish!  Poor woman was so embarrassed.

From there we went into Kenilworth town and had some lunch. We spent more time in the hotel grounds and then collected Mal.

Another nice dinner in the hotel. The previous night I asked for the strawberry dessert which should have been accompanied with blueberries and raspberries. It wasn’t but by that time I thought I had imagined it on the menu. I spoke to the waitress about it and she told us there was someone new preparing desserts and she would have a word. Mal also said his cheese board had been the smallest he had ever seen. True to her word amidst a lot of apologies, I had all three fruits when I ordered it again, Mal had a much bigger cheese board. It also transpired, she had knocked the price of dessert off the bill.

Another glorious day. Torin had a lie in, until 5.45 as we said we would take all the dogs out. Usually he takes them for an hours run before he leaves for work. Yes, he is usually up at 4!!

Later Mal and I took them out and of course they all three went in the river. It didn’t matter today as they dried quickly.

After lunch we left for Kenilworth. We arrived at the hotel only to be told that we had a room on the third floor. I asked the receptionist why they always did this, put people with dogs high up! She agreed and said she would change our room. What a bonus she gave us a room on the ground floor, looking out to the woods and we have our own patio door and chairs outside our room! She has upgraded us, how very nice of her. Last year we stayed here and they charged us £15 in total for the three nights we stayed  for Ellie. We were told this year it is £20 per night but the receptionist then said it is only £15 in total so that was a bonus.

Ellie thought the room was great, she could just sit and watch the rabbits running around outside!

We took her to the woods at the edge of the hotels grounds and the bridge into the woods has been broken and you no longer have access, so we had to find another route.

Dinner was very good with a lovely Greek waitress serving us. There don’t seem to be many people staying here at the moment. The restaurant has a really nice outside area where we had a drink before our dinner.

Mal has his exam meetings at Warwick Uni and so we packed our things again and drove to Torin’s house so that we can do the journey in two stages. Torin arrived home from work shortly after we arrived and did no more than took all three dogs for a walk with his 50kg back pack. He is training for Ben Nevis!  We were going to go with him but his pace is a lot faster than ours and we would hold him back!

In the evening we went and had a meal at the Bengal Raj in Biggleswade. It’s Torins local and they know Torin well as it is just along the road from him. It is the most I have seen Torin laugh in a long while which was really good to see after he has been ill for so long. He has also started putting weight back on as he lost 3 stone.

We had a long walk with Ellie and then went to Howlett’s Zoo. We both love it there and have season tickets and it is so close to where we live. This time we did manage to see the baby Black Rhino. He has always been indoors on our previous visits. The animals were just lazing around, chillin’!! It was a lovely warm and sunny day. We spend most of our time watching the beautiful Arina (Siberian Tiger) and the gorillas but today the gibbons were amusing us too;

We took Ellie out for her run and then went into Broadstairs. I have the feeling their Bank Holiday celebrations would have been better attended had there been yesterdays sunshine!

We didn’t stay too long. Mal was again eager to get to the allotment and I carried on doing the back garden. I’m not sure where Ellie is wandering in the garden but she keeps coming back with more dirt on her, she now has two black paws and black marks on her head. I have a feeling a previous occupant must have dumped coal from the log burner somewhere!

In the evening I watched the Spurs v Chelsea game. Well done Leicester but I have to say the game turned into a shambles and quite honestly a disgrace to football. Yes, I was hoping Spurs would win and it started off a good game but turned into a free for all.  A total disgrace.

We were woken up with the sun streaming in the bedroom window and the birds singing in the garden. I have to say this time of year is my favourite time whether this country or Cyprus.

A special treat, for no reason at all except it is Sunday…smoked salmon and scrambled egg,…. delicious. Then  out for a long walk around the orchards and Mal checked his Wingham allotment. Not much growing there but they are new allotments so probably need a year or two looking after. The cheetah at Wingham Wildlife Park does make me laugh. He jumps off his perch as we walk around the orchards and stands and stares at Ellie.

We met up with Lou, Rhys and the littlies for lunch at Badger’s Hill Farm. It’s nice there because the kids can pet the animals and they also do meals and snacks. We hadn’t realised you can take dogs there, we could have taken Ellie. It was so nice we ate lunch outside.

Malwent to the allotment late afternoon. There’s a lot to do this time of year as he will soon be starting his assessments for the exam board.
