Torin and I took the three dogs out early in the morning. We then had fun playing games with Scarlet and Jack.

Mal has another meeting at Warwick Uni so we left later and headed for Kenilworth. We remembered a couple of years ago we had a good meal at Ego Mediterranean Restaurant and so went there for dinner. It was still as good as we remember.

 

We stayed the night at Chesford Grange again. We left Ellie with Torin as she loves being with his two dogs. I don’t think she even bothered when we left.

A lovely walk with Ellie.

This is Rod’s pool still under construction but Judy has been swimming in it already (15 degrees!)

We packed up and went to Torins for lunch.

We went to the pub in the evening and then on to the Indian, Torin’s local and Tracey was able to join us when she had finished her very long shift.

We had a really good evening.

We took Ellie for her walk through the fields and bluebell woods.

On the way back we stopped to talk to Rod who lives at Rose Cottage (my dream house). We must have stood chatting with him for about an hour. He is building an environmentally friendly swimming pool. Of course Mal wanted to know exactly how it worked. Then the conversation went on to things like property insurance for a thatched cottage and he told us one of the requisites was to have his chimney swept every month by a professional registered chimney sweep (he was not allowed to do it himself even if he did the training!!) He had put in an application to build a wooden barn on his land to put his tractor in, It was turned down but of course they have agreed to 70 houses being built in the village. This then went on to he is now being prosecuted for parking his car in a Plymouth car park, for which he paid £6 only to have a ticket slapped on it saying his vehicle was 20cms too long for the car park! He is going to court fighting that one. With all the other issues he seems to have going on, I don’t think we were surprised to hear he is waiting to have a triple bypass!! I have now gone off the idea of having the dream house, especially as he also told us that woodpeckers are destroying his thatch! Poor man.

In the afternoon Mal went to the allotment and I gardened the front garden.

Our postman wasn’t too impressed as he shouted over the hedge “I have two very heavy parcels for you.” I didn’t like to tell him, there are at least another 50 coming soon! That is the start of Mal’s exam work.

Sol is 18 today. I just don’t know where those years have gone. I started looking through some old photos of him and we did have some really good times with the 4 boys, our summers in Cyprus. Here’s one of Sol just finishing a plate of kebabs about 9 years ago.

We went for a very damp walk around the orchards and then Mal went to the allotment to get as much done as he can before he starts his exam assessment.

During our walk around the orchards,  Ellie found, a dead baby rabbit. She brought it to me and dropped it at my feet! She was so gentle with it. Well, she is a retriever! The apricots are starting to form now.

It dried up in the afternoon so I started work on the front garden.

We went out over the fields, thankfully it was only a light drizzle. a different day to yesterday!  The final part of the walk was through the woods, I love walking through the bluebells.

Mal’s glasses have broken at the nose clip and no one wants to repair them and so he wanted to go to the opticians to buy replacements.  He managed to find buy one get one free, just as well as he has varifocals, a difficult prescription, so a few hundred pounds anyway! I always have to go with him as obviously he can’t see properly when he tries glasses on!  It was a miserable  morning anyway , so we didn’t have much else to do. He also looked for a new jacket but about 8 shops later, couldn’t find what he wanted.

It stopped raining in the afternoon so Mal went to the allotment.

In the evening we watched the Hammers v Man U game, a good result as it was the last game at Boleyn.

Another beautiful day and so we had a long walk over the fields followed by shopping and of course Mal went to his allotment. The broad beans are doing really well.

More gardening at home for me. a lot of the flowers have started to bloom now.

Torin took all the dogs for a long fast walk , with his 50kg back pack. He told me I would slow him down! So we stayed at home with Scarlet and Jack.

Later we all went to the swimming pool but Mal and I didn’t have our swimming things with us, so we just watched.

Everyone was hungry after all that exercise and so we went to Letchworth to the Chinese for our Sunday lunch. I think the kids wanted to go there because of the chocolate fountain.

After lunch we drove back home.
