We went to Minnis Bay but the tide was right in and the sea very choppy. It was cold and I forgot to take my hat!

Mal did a bit more at the allotment and I just popped into Wingham,

We watched the Man City v Chelsea game. I was just saying to Torin they (Chelsea) had a good goalie and then it all went wrong for him including a red card. I think I’ll keep my mouth shut in future!

Villa in north Cyprus for sale

I think it was Spring first thing when we walked around the orchards but later in the day we had a lot of rain. We walked past the wild life park and the cheetah again was so curious about Ellie!

I forgot to say I did manage to find some wellies yesterday in Ramsgate. That was rather  a surprise as I had been told in a couple of shops that their wellies had been sent back to the warehouse as it is no longer winter!! Oh yes I forgot, there’s never any rain from April onward in the UK (!!) And of course it never rains at the summer festivals! Anyway, I now have a new pair which I wore around the orchards. I have also filed the receipt away in our filing cabinet, ready for when they start leaking!

In the afternoon I met up with the Krimson Krinklees, Red Hatters for lunch at the Racing Greyhound.. We do have a laugh. I managed to resist the desserts!! The others didn’t.  The ploughmans were possibly one of the biggest I have seen. We now have a few things booked for the future, including our pre Christmas meal! Oh yes, we are organised.

We have song thrushes in our garden, I love listening to them but they wake us up at 5.30 in the morning. I told Mal they were song thrushes but he had to check the app on his phone!! Ha ha. Of course they were and I don’t need an app!

I walked around the orchards in Wingham while Mal tended to his allotment there. The apple trees are just starting to bud. The apricots are way ahead. We were actually out very early and this was at the beginning of our walk.

It soon brightened up and all the rabbits were out playing, lots of babies.

I then went off to the hairdressers. Marcello was really busy. He has been away and so I guess everyone wanted their hair done on his return. In the afternoon Mal went to his other allotment. He is trying to get them all sorted before we go away. Ellie and I enjoyed sitting in the garden.

I did wonder why every time I got behind the wheel of a car in north Cyprus I felt as though I was taking my life in my hands. Interesting article! I have even witnessed someone on the phone with one hand and eating food held in the other hand. It is frightening. Istanbul is pretty dangerous driving but I think north Cyprus tops this. It’s all a matter of “if Allah wishes it”, I am sure.

We watched a good programme in the evening, research and ways to fight against dementia in old age. We already do the walking. Perhaps we should take up table tennis!

The sun was out and so Ellie and I went to Minnis Bay. I dropped Mal off at the barbers on the way as they open at 8am.

Ellie loved it in the sea and played with lots of dogs there.

When I collected Mal, again he didn’t like his hair cut. I don’t remember when he ever has.

I had to go to Westwood but wasn’t long as I preferred to get the chairs out and sit in the garden in the sun. We had our lunch outside as well. I was looking for wellies as the expensive pair I bought have now started leaking. I have got through so many pairs since I have been back in the UK. I don’t think paddling in the sea helps but they must be very poor quality nowadays. I did think I had kept the receipt for this leaky pair but now I can’t find it! I don’t know that it would be much good anyway as reading online about Hunters, so many people are saying they have had pairs for years but all the recent ones have split/cracked/leak. I guess the thing to do is to buy cheap ones and keep throwing them away! After all I have to accept that it is now a “throw away” society.

In the evening we watched the Hammers v Man U game. Hammers are now out of the cup. Mal was not happy!

A lot of heavy rain overnight but the sun came out while we were walking in Sandwich.

Unfortunately Ellie decided she would go into the stream and she stank when she came out, so it was in the bath when we were home!

Aren’t retrievers lovely?!

We were sent a Groupon voucher £10 off if you spend £20+ on a local deal, so we looked through and decided to book a 2 course meal at Charlie’s Bistro in Herne Bay. It was originally £22, so with our money off code, it was £12 for the two of us!! We hadn’t been there before so a good chance to try it. No time like the present so we booked to go today for lunch!!

We had a long walk along the sea front first and then went in for our meal. I have to say the meal was much better than we could have imagined for £6 each!! Mal’s baked camembert starter was huge. What a bargain that was. The service was good too, so we left a big tip. It was really nice in there and it’s right opposite the sea front.

It’s nice doing things on the spur of the moment.

When we came out we looked around Herne Bay shops and found a kitchen island in one of the charity shops. We guessed it would fit in where we have a gap in the kitchen where obviously years ago an old fashioned oven would have been. It was the grand price of £9.99!! It had been a bit of wasted space up until now. The island did fit exactly in the space we had

We also found an Isle of Wight ordnance survey map fpor 50p!!  Bit of a bargain day one way and another!!

A warmer morning. We walked all over the fields around us where the farmers have been busy tilling the land.

We then walked back through the woods and yay, a lot more bluebells are out!

Later I went to Westwood. I had returned some bedding to Marks & Spencer and received a letter from their head office saying they wanted the complete set returned, the quality was not good enough and thanked me for bringing it to their attention. . I had previously just returned the pillow cases. The Manager was very nice and said they don’t do that design any more but would I like a refund or choose another set. I chose another set not realising it was £20 more than I had paid. He said that was fine, so I am impressed!

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon. We then started planing our trip we will be going on to the Isle of Wight. Neither of us have been there for a lot of years!

We had a lovely walk by the river in Sandwich, the sun was out and it was just like Spring, we keep thinking that!

In the afternoon we watched Spurs beat Man U 3-0!! Much to Rhys’s disgust. Three goals in 6 and a half minutes!

After dinner we headed off to the Marlowe in Canterbury to watch and listen to Kate Rusby. She is the most talented Folk Singer and comes from Barnsley. If you haven’t seen her, take the opportunity if you can. She is very small with a huge personality, very entertaining and the most pure voice when she sings. When she talks she has a thick Yorkshire accent and is very funny. She is holding a Yorkshire Tea mug in the picture below!!
