Gardening and cleaning terraces and then another trip for Mal to the dentist, back to work as soon as we were home again! Meanwhile a power cut in the morning and then the internet went down from 9.15am. Another power cut in the afternoon and the internet didn’t come back until 4.30pm! We can’t use the pressure washer without electricity!
I have been reading lot about Akıncı. I think the funniest article is in the Guardian. “In sharp contrast to the affluent south, the north is a step back in time with Turkish-run Nicosia resembling a dusty garrison town.”…………..a little behind the times I feel. I understood they had financial problems in the South??
A new cafe/bar/restaurant has opened in Alsancak, Macaron and as it is just down the road from us we decided to eat there in the evening. The a la carte restaurant is upstairs.. It has quite a comprehensive and interesting menu. We ordered starters and main courses and then a 7 dish meze arrived. We hadn’t realised or we wouldn’t have ordered starters! Mal had ordered the cheese plate and it was huge, I had the garlic mushrooms and by now I was wondering how on earth we were going to manage the main course! I forced mine down (!) as it was King Prawns with sea bass, delicious, but couldn’t manage all the chips/salad and vegetables that came with it. Mal had a pork chop and it was enormous. No way could we, manage a dessert. Prices here are good with Turkish coffee and brandy “on the house”.
