A walk in the mountains with Ellie off her lead a lot more but she gets very distracted with smells when she is supposed to be bringing her ball back!

Next back to the Belediyesi. Yes, of course they will come this afternoon to sort out our lack of water. Why are we not holding our breath? We then went into a store that sells baskets and all sorts of “yapi” things. Having heard about more free roaming dogs that are attacking other dogs we wanted to buy a walking stick. They didn’t sell any but the owner made a great fuss of Ellie. He owns a Cyprus Terrier, two German Shepherds and a Pekinese! We did a bit of shopping in Lemar, Alsancak. The place was empty, I am surprised they keep open.

Of course then it was time for the tennis and Rafa beat Federer. A good match.

Turkish Lira is now 3.87 to the pound!

Thankfully Mal is not as bruised as I expected and is not aching too much after yesterday’s fall.

Off for our walk and we discovered mum and dad pig! Ellie was quite interested.

We went further up the mountain and met a dog walker with 4 dogs, so Ellie had fun running around with them.

Next on to the Belediyesi where they denied all knowledge of my phoning them yesterday to tell them we have no water. They will come  today at 12. Oh no they didn’t!!

Thank you Steve for letting me know, there will no longer be a midweek edition of Cyprus Today, so we won’t have to read the same “news” twice in a week.

We took Ellie to a beach and as we were walking back to the car, Mal went to step down and missed somehow. He has had trouble with one eye and went to the opticians when we were in the UK and he believes that was the problem. Well the first I knew of it was turning round and seeing him lying on the rocky ground and it looks as though he went face first. To start with I thought he had collapsed. I think he is going to have a very sore bruised face and also one of his hands is badly bruised.

We didn’t bother stopping at the Belediyesi about the water. I phoned them later. I did pop into Atakara and Lemar for Cyprus Today. At 8.30, they had not been delivered.

Here we go again, the replacement airline for CTA. I think we have all heard this before. The other ” news” is land to be expropriated for the water project. Better check if it affects you. That’s all the news for today because I drove back down to the shops and NO Cyprus Today.

At least falling over has amused us both, we have one good arm each, my right and Mal’s left. That makes a pair so we can do anything. When I told Torin he said we are not safe to be let out! And my camera took another bashing as Mal was holding it.

Today’s tennis was watching Murray get knocked out of the Australian Open!

It’s a good thing we take Ellie out early and then I was able to watch Ferrer go out of the Ozzy Open. We let Ellie off her lead for a while today. She was much more interested in chasing her ball and bringing it back  than running away! Another lovely day with the sun out.

Yesterday I went to the pound shop and bought Ellie a soft toy and a football. The football lasted two minutes and she pierced it. A previous goldie I had, loved soft toys from the charity shops. He would carry them around for about three months and then finally tear them up. Ellie’s lasted a day and then I had to take it off her as the stuffing was coming out. Ah well, they both seemed like a good idea, we will have to stick to the rope knots!

I saw my first anemone of the year

Well then I just had to watch Wawrinka beat Djokovic and an excellent game that was too. I did manage a bit of gardening in between.

We realised that our household water tank was almost empty. We checked with David and Kenny and they have water. It seems a bit of a coincidence that Lena’s was cut off while we were away and they have been working on Mustafa’s water supply. We will have to go to the Beledeye tomorrow. Meanwhile we topped up from our spare tanks.

Into the ravine for our early morning walk. We thought we heard a strange noise and look what we found………..

……not quite what we expected in a Muslim country! Ellie’s friends Loppi and Jekka said hello as we walked back home.

The lira weakens further against the pound.

Another lovely “spring” day, I wonder how long 20 degree temperatures will last? As sunny as it was outside, I had to watch Nadal v Nishikori, a very good match. Nishikori’s play reminds me of Chang.  (Australian Open) I then  watched the end of Murrays match.

We took Ellie for her first trip to the sea. She wasn’t too keen to start off with and ran when the waves came in. Bit by bit we managed to get her to paddle and then she went mad running all over the beach.

An interesting article about Pegasus hidden costs when booking a flight.

We had an early  morning walk through the village and then on to the mountains. Three village dogs came with us. Bobby growled at Ellie which really surprised me because he used to love Rosie.

I went to the shops and bought Cyprus Today. Hang your heads in shame Pegasus for charging for wheelchair assistance, it’s not as though you don’t charge enough for your flights!! There is no warning about this charge of 15 euro but it is free (if you knew) and had your disabled badge or doctors note with you!

It was a gloriously sunny day and reached 20 degrees.

In the evening Robin came round for dinner. He entered by the patio door. Much to our surprise Ellie started growling at him and the fur on her back was raised. So, she is a good house dog after all! Of course they made friends when we let him in.

Thought for the Day – “Golden retrievers are not bred to be guard dogs, and considering the size of their hearts and their irrepressible joy in life, they are less likely to bite than to bark, less likely to bark than to lick a hand in greeting. In spite of their size, they think they are lap dogs, and in spite of being dogs, they think they are also human, and nearly every human they meet is judged to have the potential to be a boon companion who might, at many moment, cry, “Let’s go!” and lead them on a great adventure.”  ~ Dean Koontz
