We did a lot of gardening and also went swimming. Mal says the pool is cold now (25 degrees!) I told him to “man up”!! It’s fine once you start swimming.
In the evening we were debating where to go out for dinner and decided on Tasmahzen in Alsancak village. We had been there previously and had a very good meal. We sat at the table and were asked what we wanted to drink. Brandy sour please. “We don’t have them” was the reply. We make them at home and they are not difficult to make, so couldn’t really understand that one.
They had kleftico on the menu so we both ordered it. A few mezes came first and then the kleftico arrived along with a large potato in a yoghurt pot! Yes, we buy our yoghurt from the supermarkets in these dishes. That didn’t matter, kind of inventive I guess! Along with that came a plate of chips which weren’t cooked all the way through! How disappointing, the kleftico was very fatty and greasy and it didn’t taste as though it was fresh from the oven. The desert was good. Then the Turkish coffee and brandy. I have tasted far better coffees and the brandy was extremely rough!
When we were half way through our meal,Robin came into the restaurant with some friends. I hope his meal was better than ours. I’m afraid it won’t be on our list of places to return to. We went home and Mal made me a brandy sour!
