When we were up and looked out to sea and there was something like a drilling platform all lit up just in front of us. As it was still dark we were unable to see exactly what it was. Strange!

It looked a little like rain, so we were out early and down for a walk along Güzelyalı beach. We noticed (for the first time) a restaurant opposite the beach called Blue Garden House.   We called into Lemar on the way back and bought Cyprus Today and some of their Chilli peanuts. They are called “Nutzz” by Peyman a 50g packet is only 1tl and they are lovely!

Later we decided to go back to the Blue Garden House and have some lunch. It is the opposite side of the road but looks out over Güzelyalı beach. A nice position to watch all the kite surfers putting their wet suits on!!

It was a nice lunch with a complimentary plate of fruit and also Turkish coffees. I have to say the owner excelled when he saw me  knock three quarters of my limonata drink all over the tablecloth, he was by my side immediately mopping it all up! I was trying to push some of the (real) chips on to Mal’s plate. They were delicious but too many for me. The only slight niggle I have is that as soon as we sat down, a large bottle of water was brought to our table, opened and poured into glasses for us. We didn’t ask for this and we were charged for it at the end of the meal. It wasn’t chilled either. Just a pet annoyance I have when I go to restaurants.

On the way home we called in at the Wild Duck as they were having the first of their Christmas stalls. I think it will be every Saturday 2-5 until Christmas and guess who else was there………

We did watch the Hammers v Chelsea game later, suffice to say after Chelsea’s first goal, Mal started reading his book!

A Mountain walk first thing, very nice. Then off to buy new loppers which weren’t as expensive as we thought they may be – 40tl.  On the way back we called in at Lemar Friday market where Vicki (Black Olive) persuaded us to try some of her Whisky fruit cake which was very good so of course we had to buy one! She also has quiches and other varieties of cake.

We were woken up by 3 very lively kittens jumping all over the chairs under the terrace and also jumping up the shutters! When they had woken us up and had a long play on our terrace, mum took them back down the drive to the Russian house!

Off for our walk in the ravine and it was muddier than we expected in places. That will teach us to go down there in our walking sandals. I managed to spot the first wild cyclamen, just coming through.

Mal did more of the hedges until his loppers broke! Any excuse to stop.

A walk round the village in the morning. Mum cat came in the garden and I had kept some pork fat for her. The first piece I gave her she took very gently, the second piece she really swiped my hand and made it bleed, she didn’t get the third piece. I was too busy “detolling” my finger!

Cyprus Today – Now we know where our storm and heavy rain came from! Get your candles/ gennies ready Teknecik is going to be running out of fuel as they have no money!!! Also CT can buy their eggs cheaper than they say, we always buy a tray of eggs at Lemar for 9.90tl.

I’ve a feeling that shorts may be going away soon, having said that it is lovely and sunny and warm, well about 23 degrees, which does actually feel quite cold to those of us who live here! My sister phoned and told me they were in the middle of a snow storm, yes, I think that is cold!  So, in good time, I sorted out all the winter curtains, pressed them and hung them up. We still don’t have the winter duvet on yet, plenty of time for that.

Mal was out doing more hedge cutting.

After more rain in the night we decided the least muddy walk would be the Lapta Walkway. As well as the mystery from Sunday of why there are 19 litre water bottles along the walkway, another puzzle is why they have a WC half way but no matter when you walk along there, it is always locked. Today all was revealed! As we were walking a van pulled up next to the walkway, out came three workmen, large tins of paint and finally a 19 litre water bottle. Of course it is drinking water for the workmen and as we all know in spite of there being numerous rubbish bins along the walkway, they are not in the habit of clearing their rubbish away! The second riddle as to why the WC is always locked…silly us, it is because the workmen are the only ones with the key and they keep their wheelbarrow in there!!

From our walk, we stopped at the barbers and Mal had his hair cut, not before time! This time he used a new one “Big Man” and they gave him a very good hair cut.

David and Kenny popped up for a quick chat in the afternoon. We also heard from Margaretha who had been into Multimax, all sorted now and a refund for the incorrect router. Once again the girl on reception was bypassed as soon as she started saying “no”, Mal had given Margaretha the number of the technician he spoke to yesterday. Margaretha called him and he was in the office within 10 minutes, all sorted!

The autopsy on Mike Watkin-Jones revealed death was due to a massive heart attack. (K5). The funeral will be held at 10.30 am Friday 22nd November at Green Hills cemetery Karaoğlanoğlu – family flowers only. Food and drinks at Almond village Alsancak following internment.

We had storms and a lot of rain during the night. We woke up to mum and her three kittens snuggled up on our chairs under the terrace!

Margaretha came up in the morning as she had computer problems. Bless her, she had been to the South and so bought us 5kg of pork chops!! Well, it seems the receptionist at Multimax has not been particularly polite to her, a very long story which I won’t go into but Mal called her and in fact she was even rude to Mal! Mal has been in touch with Kemal just to inform him that she is driving customers away, as Margaretha was just about to change to another provider. Well suffice to say that after going to Margaretha’s house with our router, more phone calls to Multimax, eventually by-passing the rude receptionist, Mal has a lot of Multimax numbers and got through to a very helpful technician. Margaretha bought another router,Multimax sold her the wrong one and in between all this the three of us had lunch at Fast Food.   That was the whole day gone. Well, there wasn’t much else to do anyway as we had even more rain and even hail stones- that wasn’t at all what the weather forecast said!

It has been reported on Facebook that sadly, Mike Watkins Jones one of the K5 Residents passed away yesterday evening. How very sad that the end of his life was spent fighting Akfinans Bank. RIP Mike.

We walked the Lapta Walkway, I wish they would hurry and build the rest of it. We walk the length and back but would like it to extend further. More people are using it now. It was only today we noticed that the rails have gates in them! It was beyond us what these strategically placed water bottles are for!! We saw 5 of them. They are the large 19 litre ones and some have water in. No idea!

It was sunny in the morning and then started clouding over a little, so we decided to go and have Sunday lunch out. Açmenya is only a short way from our house but for some reason we have never tried their Sunday lunch. What a surprise we had, it was very good, read about it here. We came out of there absolutely full. Not only did we have three courses but at the beginning of the meal, they bring out warm bread, herb butter and olives and then of course brandy and coffee at the end. If you want to give it a try…don’t have breakfast!
