I have some explaining to do. Monday afternoon Rosie developed another symptom and we rushed her to the vets. She gave her an instant blood test and told us it was acute visceral leishmaniasis. Mal even checked the blood test. Suffice to say with the vets help we had to make the decision to put her to sleep. We were both shocked and devastated. We brought her home and she is now at peace under the pampas grass where she loved to be.
I want to thank David and Kenny for their support throughout and the vet Prof. Dr Hurriye Horoz Kaya who showed us great professionalism, gentleness and understanding. I would also like to thank everyone who has sent us such heartfelt messages that have meant a lot to both of us.
We will never forget her, the most difficult dog I have ever owned but who after her first 6 months of being mistreated, after we rescued her gave us 7 years of so much pleasure and laughter.
We miss her.
