Rain during the night and rain when we got up.  It looks as though North Cyprus may be having two days of rain too, according to the forecast.

In the evening Shirley and Steve asked us if we would like to join them for a meal out at a Russian restaurant  in Ramsgate. Of course we said yes, always game for something local that is a bit different! It’s a nice restaurant and it surprised us that there were only two other people dining the whole time we were in there. The guy who owns it comes from Lithuania, and our geography failing all four of us, he drew us a map so we could see exactly where it is! There were also TV’s in there and we were asked whether we wanted music or football, of course we chose the football!

I thought the food was very good and the beetroot soup I had was excellent. I chose Cabbage rolls for my main but they only had half a portion which was enough, seeing as I was having soup first. Shirley is a vegetarian and didn’t fair so well with her choices. Mal wished he had chosen the wild boar that Steve had instead of the venison he ordered. (Brothers!)  The prices were really reasonable (£2.50 for beetroot soup.)   We had read up about the restaurant on Trip Advisor before going and everyone recommends the Honey Cake for desert (which wasn’t on the menu). We all ordered it. The portions were huge and Shirley and I couldn’t finish ours. It was delicious but a bit of a shock when the bill came and it was £6 a portion comparing the other prices on the menu. My desert cost more than the other two courses put together! Well worth a visit if you are ever in Ramsgate!

We moved on from there for drinks at The Churchill Tavern. Mal and Steve do like their real ales!  The picture taken here…I think they had too many beers!

A very good evening. Thank you Shirley and Steve, especially Shirley who drove!
