We invited David and Kenny over for lunch. First of all I layed the table outside, then it started to cloud over, so I moved it all indoors. Then the sun came out, so put crisps and nuts on the table at the front of the house and then it started to rain! No rain had been forecast, so I don’t know where that came from but we ate indoors and then sat under the terrace. David and Kenny have officially declared winter and packed away their summer clothes and yes we all agreed it was getting colder. What wimps we are it was 19 degrees!

We had a really nice afternoon with them.

I was on Skype to my sister when Mal discovered a huge caterpillar crawling along our floor. It has to be the biggest caterpillar I have ever seen. I looked it up in my Collins Complete Mediterranean Widllife and discovered it is the caterpillar of the Death’s Head Hawkmoth. Fascinating all these insects we discover in and around the house. You can see how big it was when Mal put it on a sheet of A4 paper. It was about 10cm long and FAT!

Another lovely sunny day. We went for a long overdue visit to see Bev and Gary. We haven’t seen them for such a long time but they are such lovely people, we just seem to pick up where we left off. We  missed each other when either they are back in the UK or we were. Or we are all so busy and people ask what we do in retirement? Well every day is full. Anyway, at last we made it and had a good catch up.

A special mention here to John, Helen and Dave and please, next time you see us, come and speak to us, we’d love it!

Not a good result for England in the evening when they lost 4-2.

Today ONLY – Half Price Duvets at Debenhams

A lovely day with the sun out. A day for me of household chores. I still don’t understand how the house gets so dusty and full of spiders when we are not here. Mal went over to David and Kenny’s to show them how to clean their pool. They have had a pool company until now but they have often left their water running and have not been successful one way and another. Well, if I can clean a pool they can. It’s not rocket science!

I also trimmed some of the roses and caught another huge locust just chewing away at the leaves! They really do shred them and they have done it to all my rose bushes!

The Turkish Stars (aerobatic flying team) were out practising for their air display on Thursday for KKTC Republic Day. We had a good view from our terrace of their looping etc.

In the evening we watched Skyfall.  Only my opinion (and not being a huge fan of James Bond) but I can’t really see what all the hype was about!

Another visit to the dentist. This time was preparation for my crown. I had an injection before she started the work as it was going into the gums. I can honestly say Ipek is so gentle with the injection.

We had planned to go to Cafe Boss and have some lunch but after the injection and three quarters of an hour in the chair, I decided I would enjoy it another time. However, we did go and have a drink, delicious freshly squeezed orange juice there and Mal (who is fussy about coffee) said what good coffee it was and their prices are reasonable.

So, instead we bought a sun dried tomato and basil quiche to have later today when I can feel my mouth again. We also bought jars of Real Ale Chutney, Onion marmalade and Tomato, red pepper and chilli relish, all hand and home made. The large jars are 8tl each and a good idea for small Christmas presents. They have a vast selection of pickles, chutneys, jams etc.

I was woken up at 5.00am by either thunder or guns going off, both were happening. It still amazes me what on earth the hunters are targeting when it is still dark! According to the weather forecast today is the last of the rain for a while.

The kittens sheltered under the terrace but as soon as the sun was out, they were off.

By the afternoon the sun was out and we did a bit more gardening and then watched the Spurs game.

Now, this is an interesting article, an advocate who appears to work FOR his client!

We went off to the dentist first thing, this time for impressions to be taken for Mal’s teeth. I have to say she does explain everything to you and talks you through the X rays and as yet has not invented anything you don’t need, unlike some I could mention.

We begrudgingly handed over 4tl for a copy of Cyprus Today. No it wasn’t worth it!

We were invited over to David and Kenny’s for lunch. It was going to be a BBQ but the weather wasn’t too kind. Colleen and Seren  were there too and we had a lovely afternoon and very good food. Seren, who was a doctor suggested I put a plaster on my forehead with a bandana over it when the sun is strong.

From their house we could see across to the Russian house and there was Cat and one of the kittens in her garden! By the time we arrived home and a storm was starting two of the kittens were curled up on one of the chairs under the terrace.

In the evening we watched a very good game, Man U v Villa. Villa played well even though they lost.
