Bargains – another North Cyprus holiday bargain at the Malpas and for all the gardeners out there bargain Heavy duty Pruners.

An additional bargain – sun lounger – £25 while stocks last!

In the morning I went to see Jill who is working between crutches and a wheelchair since having her knee operated on, following a fall.  Poor thing, not much fun as she now has to have physio as well. I took her some chocolate as she is eating very little and hope it will tempt her, well it is nearly Seker Bayram.  For those that don’t realise, public offices will be shut Monday and Tuesday and from previous experience most of the cash machines at the banks will have run out of money by Sunday night! The end of Ramadan.

In the evening we met Christa and Robin at Hillside for their fish and chips and a drink for 20tl. We had a really nice evening. The fish was as good as ever, none of it greasy. We heard all about Christa and Robin’s happenings since we saw them last.

Bargains – Cheap duvet covers and an olive tree for your garden.

More gardening, at least it is looking a bit better now and we can walk on the paths! The picture is a little (well quite huge actually) monster, I think an Egyptian grass hopper, chomping away at my geraniums. Him and his friends have already serated all the leaves on my rose bushes.

More figs off our fig trees…yummy!

Margaretha came round in the afternoon. She is having problems with her laptop, so Mal had a look at it but it was suffering badly from the heat and kept closing! I have to say I always make sure mine is left in the air conditioned bedroom overnight.

Thought for the DayI am not bound for any public place, but for ground of my own where I have planted vines and orchard trees, and in the heat of the day climbed up into the healing shadow of the woods.  Better than any argument is to rise at dawn and pick dew-wet red berries in a cup.  ~ Wendell Berry

Bargain – 20% off at Buyagift.

I went to get Cyprus Today and some fresh bread as the loaf I bought last night was covered in those wretched tiny ants. They seem to spring up from nowhere, no matter how many we get rid of. I suppose, reading Cyprus Today, rats and mice will be next! We really don’t mind the tiny lizards running around the house!

It seeems it is potter wasp time again, we have them buzzing around indoors looking for suitable places to make their pottery nests. Yesterday one was eyeing up the door lock hole to one of the patio doors, not a good place at all.

Talking of wildlife, I found an interesting moth in the kitchen but not sure what it is, maybe a Mallow Skipper.

Too many gardens….not helped by Mal breaking the shears with his thumb trapped in them but Chris to the rescue when he brought up his electric hedge trimmer!

Bargains – Debenhams 10% off womenswear and if you want to try having your own Cyprus garden in the UK cheap bougainvillea!

At least after a mornings work, we can walk down a couple more paths in the garden! The passion flower has gone everywhere and mixed with the jasmine arch, all  a bit chaotic to start.

We then met Pauline and Chris at Silver Rocks and had our lunch there. Poor Pauline is still suffering from her shoulder.

From there we went to wish Bev a Happy Birthday but she was out, obviously celebrating somewhere.

Bargain- Toby 2 carveries for £10 voucher and cheap golfing break.

Mal and I went for a short walk in the mountains, it was short because it brought back memories but it had to be done. We also collected some pine cones for our BBQ.

More gardening. Early evening Scarlet and Jack were on the web cam again and then we watched the downloaded closing Olympic ceremony. Personally I thought it was better than the opening ceremony.

Well done to Team GB……

Sunday 12th August 2012

Bargains – Hallmark half price cards, gifts and wrap and automatic can opener half price. I have one of the can openers, brilliant!

Torin, Scarlet and Jack came on the web cam. It has been such nice weather in the Uk that yesterday they had been paddling in the outside pools in Letchworth and were going again in the afternoon.

Later we watched the Olympic marathon, then the Community Shield and back to the Olympic Boxing! A good fight for Anthony Joshua who won gold!  What better place to sit and watch an afternoons sport than under the terrace…and then a swim!

In the evening we watched the meteor shower, just like fireworks shooting across the sky. We decided to download the Olympic closing ceremony and watch it tomorrow! I hear The Who made an appearance, that takes me back to 1964, The  Trade Hall in Watford!

Bargain – Eurostar late deals  and BHS 15% off

The “news” from Cyprus Today.

Margaretha came round in the morning, so it was really nice to have a catch up of the past few months with her. She now has NINE rescue dogs!

Well, this really was a cheeky pigeon who decided he would have a bath in our pool! Lots of birds come around the pool now there is no Rosie to see them on their way.

We lay out on the sunbeds in the evening to watch the meteor showers but did come in to watch Mo Farah, didn’t he do well?!

Cheeky bird!
