I bought Cyprus Today. No surprise about a new airline that is not going to happen!
This has got to be a bargain tent. For anyone with young children or granchildren, a FREE download of games and puzzles.
HOW can this be happening to a pensioner here? Of course I am talking about Pauline Read and the saga continues. She is not just fighting for her rights but there are also about another 1,400 who knowingly or not have a mortgage on their properties.
The picture is Scarlet and Jack having a long distance bedtime story by Grandad last night. The wonders of the webcam!
It was a beautiful day, temperatures in the 20’s so we were outside all day and later watched Spurs get beaten for the third game in a row. Oh dear!
Scarlet and Jack were on the web cam again before they went to bed.

We took Rosie into the ravine and of course she got soaking wet and loves standing under the waterfall for good measure and then kept dropping her ball over the edge and jumping in after it.
Mal and I then went to get our hair cut at The Glamour Fairy in Alsancak. They have only been open a week and are doing very well and quite rightly so. The last local hair cut Mal had, he said he looked like a light bulb! Bahar cut his hair and did a very good job of it and did it very quickly.
Rose cut my hair and did it just as I asked. We will be going back. The prices are clearly displayed there. 20tl for Mal’s haircut and mine, washed cut and blow dry, 50tl. Exactly as the price list unlike some I can mention here!
While we were in there, some ‘gentlemen’ from Alsancak Beldeyesi came in to check all their paperwork, saying they had received a “complaint”. Looks as though the competitors are getting jumpy! It seems the Beledeysi don’t have better things to do. I wonder why they are obsessed with checking hair dressers in this country and yet don’t bother about housing issues, lawyers and builders.
A good bargain e reader here if you don’t already have one. I wouldn’t be without mine! Or for Mother’s Day how about a reduced price Champneys gift set? It’s less than half price.
Whoops, the ball has gone again!

Lena and Willy came over in the morning. Mal was doing something with their website, I think his Swedish is improving!
Lena came up with a very good idea that we should have a Malatya ‘get together’ as there are people now moved into the village that we don’t know. It sounds like a very good idea. Since the coffee shop closed, it would be nice to gather people together and get to know one another.
More about Pauline. They don’t seem to realise what they are doing to this beautiful island.
In the evening we watched the film ‘War Horse’. It was very good.
Please don’t forget if you are walking amongst pine trees that the Pine Processionary Caterpillars are just about ready to march around in their long lines and they are DANGEROUS.
“The best advice is to avoid these innocent looking creatures at all costs. The caterpillars are covered in tiny barbed hairs which are their defence mechanism. These hairs are often being shed and so can be airborne around infested pine trees, on the branches where they have travelled and also left in the line of the migrating procession. When humans and our pets come into contact with these hairs, they can cause reactions ranging from mild inflammation and irritation to severe anaphylactic shock. The worst problems occur if you make contact with the caterpillar directly and ingest the hairs, either by picking it up, stepping on it or moving them in some manner. Once on your skin a rash soon forms which can be incredibly itchy. Medical advice should be sought if you are unfortunate enough to experience this. The rash can be painful, very itchy and lasts for as much as three weeks.
Veterinary services have many emergency calls at the time when the caterpillars are migrating to the ground as inquisitive dogs can get too close to the intriguing procession and may pick up the hairs onto their paws, these irritate and so they lick them. Once the hairs are on the lips/tongue it will induce itching, swelling and possibly vomiting. Look out for the symptoms of : small white spots in the mouth and on the tongue, excessive drooling and chomping. In some cases partial amputation of the tongue is the only course of action. “
The picture is one of their nests. Please be aware!

We went out to sort our house insurance with Steve Dickinson. He had the policy ready for us. On the way back we did a bit of shopping. We bought Cyprus Today. The midweek version seems to get thinner and thinner.
In the evening we watched ‘Wuthering Heights’ which was very good.
Today’s bargain. It seems a very good value present for Mother’s Day.

Well, the day started off well weather wise but later the rain just poured down. I do hope there will not be another drought this summer after all this rain.
Pauline has been a busy lady meeting with Dr Çakıcı. Did Akfinans Bank really think she would be silenced by all their writs and threats, which includes a call to deport her?
Margaretha came round in the morning, we stayed indoors with the log burner on!
We walked into the mountains, a good thing the hunters weren’t out (see photo). I’m afraid the photo is not very clear as they were just about to take flight when they saw Rosie coming! I’m sure someone locally will know what they are but I can’t find anything that looks quite the same in my books.
For anyone who is interested in Pauline’s whereabouts. It is important to realise there are probably another 1,400 people who also have mortgages that they may or may not be aware of.

Who would have thought when we purchased our house here that events like this could happen to a pensioner? This is an article written in Yeniduzen concerning Pauline Read. Please then read the violation of her human rights.
As far as I am aware she also won a court case and has never received one kurus, in fact worse than that, her contract was cancelled so she lost the right to live in the home she paid for and would therefore have been better off not putting her faith in the “legal system”.
Bargain haircut in the UK! Cheaper than here in the TRNC and surely their overheads are far more than here!
We went to the beach early in the morning and Rosie had her swim. I’m sure swimming does her leg good.
Later we watched a very good Spurs v Man U match and then spoke to the boys in Cardiff. I had a very interesting chat with little Oscar about the daffodil he made for St David’s Day and a not quite so impressed Tariq who had to parade around Cardiff as part of a dragon! But he was relieved no one could see his face!
