Tuesday 24th January 2012

I was up at 6 and the power went off at 7!  I did a bit of weeding in the morning and still no power by lunch time. I decided to go out and see if I could find a cash machine working. Yes, the first one was. I then went to the Post Office to pay for our PO Box (25tl). In all honesty I don’t know why we keep it as hardly any mail arrives. Well, there was a letter in there but it wasn’t for us, so I handed it in when I paid the bill.

I then drove to Multimax to pay for our internet. They were very nice and had tried to ring yesterday but they had Mal’s phone number not mine! They said if I still didn’t have internet when I arrived home to call them, which of course I would have done had the electricity been back on!  At 4.30 they called me offering to sort it out for me. Excellent customer service BUT I had no electricity and so could do nothing! They said they would be open until 6 but the electricty came back on at 6.30!

Monday 23rd January 2012

Rosie and I went to the beach early and managed to avoid the rain for a change!

Later I went out to get some money out of the cash machine. Again none of them were in service. I did meet a man at one who had walked two days running to three different machines with no luck. It seems he arrived in the country only a couple of days ago. I bet he wished he hadn’t bothered! I bought some shopping and went back home.

I’ve learnt now to keep my phone fully charged! But I wasn’t quick enough making my dinner, I just started and the lights went out again! Another power cut. I finished it off on the gas hob and eventually took hot water bottles (no electric blanket!) and read in bed. I have now read three books because of the lack of power! I am feeling pretty fed up with it now. I had tried all day to get internet, still not available!

Sunday 22nd January 2012

Another power cut in the morning and another in the afternoon, just when I wanted to watch the Spurs v Man City game. Rhys however was sending me the scores throughout the match.    The power came back on at the end of the match and so I managed to watch the Man U game.

The weather was horrendous with torrential rain which was blowing all under the terrace so I had to get the chairs in and also some of the ornamental tiles off the walls as they were banging against the wall in the wind.  I think if I had internet I would have bought a ticket back to the UK!

Mal rings my mobile twice a day so at least I get an update of what is happening in the outside world!

This is really getting beyond a joke now. Obviously I am writing all this down to put on my blog when I get electricity and internet back again!

Saturday 21st January 2012

We have had a lot of rain and the ravine is getting really muddy and so I took Rosie to the beach.

Of course along with all these power cuts, no internet! I bought Cyprus Today and wrote it up for NCFP but couldn’t  send it to Mal. I did go to 3 cash machines but they were all out of service! It seems by the reports from Mal that this isn’t going away yet and so I went to the under swimming pool store, managed to move a lot of logs and got to the supply of 50 candles!

Friday 20th January 2012

I woke up to a patch of ice outside and when I took Rosie into the ravine, everything was covered with frost!! A great time for power cuts.

It seems that Kib tek are holding the government to ransom with the electricty as the government want to privatise. Meanwhile, we are all suffering with more power cuts. Thank goodness I have the log burner and a box of 50 candles. When we did have electricity I made sure I am charging everything up.

At least Mal is keeping me up to date what is going on but without the internet we are spending a fortune on phone calls.

ICE outside!

Thursday 19th January 2012

We had a 13 hour power cut, my phone ran out of battery and of course no internet! Not much to do with no power and so I cleaned out all the book shelves, a long overdue job. I found 19 potter wasp nests! They seem to love making them at the back of the hard backs!

A miserable day with no electricty and no internet and cold!

Wednesday 18th January 2012

COLD!  Wow, the temperature has dropped, in fact it was colder in the night than in the UK. I was awake at 5 am and so got up and lit the log burner and turned the heaters on. There are a lot of Brits here getting ill because they don’t heat their houses enough.

I found a fantastic bargain and have already bought one! I am amazed at the price, can be used for a year and lunch is  included! Paintballing bargain. Now I know some boys who are going to love that!

I took Rosie for a walk and the temperature had risen to 8 degrees! There are a lot of wild cyclamen where I walk her.

I went down to see Margaretha and she now has 9 dogs! They are all adorable though.  On the way back I bought Cyprus Today see link
