18th Feb 2011

We had the most amazing sunny, warm day (for February). Mal and I went out to pay our house insurance and confirm that the leak in our wall has been repaired. Now that is done we can have the inside wall repaired. We use Steve Dickinson for all our insurance and he has been excellent.

From there on to Home Essentials to buy a new airer. This time I have bought a plastic one (50tl) as the metal ones goes rusty if you put damp washing on it. Goodness knows how many of these I have bought since I have lived here, they just all seem to fall apart.  We also bought two new chairs for outside as the sun ruins them. (75tl each). As we were driving past I bought some shopping in Starling. I was given 18 kurus short in my change, which is why I go in there very rarely. I told the girl the money was short, she just did the ‘Cyprus shrug’, opened her till and gave it to me! No wonder I tend to stick to Ileli for my shopping, a totally different attitude where they value your custom.

In the afternoon Ingrid asked me to go round for coffee and cake. Ingrid makes the most delicious cakes. It was nice to catch up with her. I think we all hibernate in January!
