15th January 2010

A much nicer day and I managed to get some weeding done as with the rain and the warmth, weeds have sprung up everywhere since I have been gone.

Mal was off to a meeting at Warwick Uni, the meeting that was cancelled from the previous weekend.

This is the first time I have had this plant flowering.

There was more rain over night.  After a walk with Rosie I went to see Bev who is not well at all, let’s hope the medication makes you feel better very soon Bev. We caught up with all the happenings over Christmas and the New Year.

In the afternoon I decided to give Rosie a shower so that she smelt a lot nicer. Of course she ran outside as soon as I got her clean.

My sore throat woke me up very early again so as soon as it was light, Rosie and I went out for a walk. What a change in the weather in the afternoon, the rain poured down and the temperature dropped  but it is still much more pleasant than the snow and ice in the UcK.  I lit the woodburner and Rosie settled in front of it! I heard from Bev and she has been ill too.

My sore throat woke me at 3.00am and that was it, I couldn’t get back to sleep again.

It was so good having the doors and windows open and not to be freezing. In fact it was so nice in the sun that Rosie and I sat outside and I even managed to do a bit of weeding. I also put my new door to my fairy house in place. It was one of my Christmas presents from Lou and Rhys. I’ll have to call it Scarlet and Josie’s fairy house.

I went to see Steve (Eden Estates) about our house insurance which is due, I have to return Thursday to collect the paper work.

Along with my sore throat and the plane still whirring in my ears, I was still awake at 4.30 in the morning. I eventually got a couple of hours sleep and then went to collect Rosie. It seems she did not have such a good time. It was incidently the longest I have left her. I was told she didn’t like all the other dogs barking and so was indoors some of the time and decided to shred her bedding and chew her leg!! Well, once home she would not leave my side. I have obviously been missed! I did very little for the rest of the day as I was so tired.

It doesn’t seem possible but Ollie has started school in the afternoons, where do the years go? Doesn’t he look smart?

10th January 2010

Some of the snow had disappeared by the time I got ready to leave in the morning but north Kent was not so good as I drove through on my way to Stansted. I met Jill at the airport and we managed to get two seats with leg room. Not surprising as the plane was half empty. No wonder CTA are losing money.

We took off from Stansted precisely on time, snow or not, the first time in a long while it was on time. Coming down in Antlaya I thought my head was going to explode, with the cold and larangytis, it was awful and the pain was excrutiating. I don’t know whether something had happened to the pressure as Jill  said she felt bad too. Then for some reason we were late leaving Antalya.  At least the air felt warm as we got off the plane at Ercan, a relief after all the cold ice and snow of the UcK. By the time Jill and I had stopped at Ileli to get some milk it was well after midnight when we got home. It had been a very long day.

Another cold and miserable day in the UcK. Mal and I went to Tesco to get his supplies as I was leaving the following day. There was a lot of ice and snow on the ground.

In the evening we went to the Toby Carvery. A huge carvery meal for £5 each. It makes us wonder why meals out are so expensive in the TRNC. I didn’t do it justice because of my sore throat. I started packing when I got home.

Margaret, the twins other ‘Nanny’ sent me a lovely photo of Scarlet and Jack.
