The BIG GOOD news today is that Geoff and Mary Day, following their very lengthy court case, have been found NOT GUILTY….so there is some justice in the TRNC see link

I have to try and use my arm and seeing as I have been unable to get my car tax which has run out, we decided to try a trip to Girne. Mal went in to get it and now I will make you all jealous, my YEARS car tax is 52.80tl. As it was a late payment, we were charged 25 kurus fine! Including the fine at todays exchange rate that is £22.14. Now I remember why I have an old Renault 9!

By the time we arrived home I had certainly had enough and was in pain again.

The long range weather forecast is promising temperatures in the 20’s over the Christmas period for North Cyprus. In fact it was 20 degrees in the shade during the day and sunny.

More good news see link

Things are looking up……when title deeds and permission to purchase are sorted out and mortgages on sold properties and all the other outstanding problems!

When Mal went back to the UK, he should have taken our Christmas cards to post but because I was suffering and unable to think about Christmas at the time, nothing was done. So, I spent the day sending them via the internet. Funky pigeon I have discovered has much more choice than Moonpig and postage is free AND you can personalise the majority of their cards. Well worth a look. It is much easier sending cards to the UK from a UK company rather than depending on the TRNC postal service.

In the evening we watched the download of The Apprentice……we think our money is on Stella.

15th Dec 2010

I made my mind up this was going to be the day that I drive to the shops…the nearest one, Atakara. I haven’t been able to drive for 3 weeks now. With the help of Mal, doing the handbrake we managed it but I have to say I don’t have power steering and it pulled on my back. Still, I managed it. Mal did all the shopping, I just organised! I am so fed up feeling like a cripple, time to try and get back to normal. I had another pain killer as soon as I arrived home.

Mal and I saw two more lorries going up to the “Malatya dump” or otherwise called the waterfall! Both cabs had “Alsancak Beledeysi” on the side. So, they have taken a lot of notice then…not!

14th Dec 2010

Another day trying to use my arm and get back to normal. I went for the morning walk with Rosie and Mal but didn’t get on so well as the previous day.

For a couple of days now Rosie has cornered a very scared black and white hunting dog in the garden. It is small and has a collar on and part of a broken chain. We have been unable to catch it as it runs as soon as it sees Rosie now. She is just curious but the hunting dog is obviously very scared.

We had a power cut in the evening so sat reading with our head torches on and the log burner roaring.

13th Dec 2010

It was a cold night and only 10 degrees when we got up. I went out for the walk with Mal and Rosie, the first time I have been for a walk in ages. We walked round the village, just to the mountains and then I had to come back as I was exhausted and ached. I then realised this is all going to take a while getting back to normal.

In the evening we watched Man U win their game against Arsenal 1-0

12th Dec 2010

Thank you Mal for doing my diary whilst I could only use one hand….Greek God. Huh! I have to say his ironing is improving. My arm/shoulder is still not right but today I am trying to type with both hands.

I slept from 10 until 6.30 this morning, what a difference a proper nights sleep made, even if I was surrounded by pillows so that I couldn’t roll on to my arm.

Cyprus Today got it wrong (again!), the internet was only off from 6-8am and not 6am – 8PM as stated in CT! Pity, I thought I would have a day without Mal on the internet!

We had the log burner ticking over all day and it made the house so cozy. We had some rain and early evening even some sleet (just as Mal took Rosie out). At 5.oopm it was 9.7 degrees. We really are not used to this.

We watched the Spurs v Chelsea game, excellent match, especially as Drogba missed a penalty 1-1.

11 Dec 2010

A lot of rain during the night and storms as well. I woke up twice with a painful arm but have to remember it is improving.

David took Mal to get some shopping and in the afternoon the log man arrived with a delivery of logs. The weather has changed dramatically from last week and was only 14 degrees early afternoon. The log burner makes the house so cosy as the houses here have little insulation. It was really windy.

Sunday 12th there will be no internet throughout the whole of the north as they are upgrading some of the cables. Hopefully it will only be just for one day.

Oh dear Hammers lost again, which takes them to the bottom of the table. Mal’s comment was “I won’t be watching them next season” to which I replied he was a fair weather supporter. No he said, they only show premier matches on the TV!

Mal banked up the log burner ready for a cold night (well, the coldest yet this end of the year).
