We took Rosie and then a busy day trying to get things sorted for our absence, a week in Turkey for Mal’s birthday.

Mal and I went to the shops and he also had his hair cut. On the way down in Incesu, a hoopoe flew right in front of the car windscreen. The photo attached is not mine, as it kept flying but it is the first time we have seen one in Cyprus,or anywhere else for that matter.

More gardening after our walk. I thought hunting season had finished but no, the hunters were out in the afternoon in force!

Another interesting article to read:

We found this lone plant in the mountains but I am not sure what it is! Any suggestions?

We went out with Rosie and then off to get some shopping and on to Perova to choose our trees. We had a good deal with the trees and we were also given a carob free.  We bought grapefruit, guava, another lemon, another almond, clementine and pear.  Mal has dug all the holes for them but it was too windy to start laying membrane and gravel.

Margaretha came round later.

There is a very interesting article in Mal’s online newspaper.  It has implications which are very positive for us. For example after the Orams decision there was a chance we could have been taken to court in the UK.  Worth a read :

ECHR ruling [on TRNC Property Commission] a victory for common sense and Cyprus

There was also a positive article in the Mail, things are looking up!

In the evening we watched the Man U game. They won 1-0 which takes them to the top of the league.

Mal, Rosie and I went to the monutains for a walk, I had enough of the mud and water for a day or two. There are so many lovely wild flowers at the moment. I think my favourite I spotted today was the Eastern Woodcock Orchid (Ophrys Umbilicata).  It really is beautiful.

We spent the rest of the day gardening, Mal clearing the front and digging holes in preparation for more fruit trees.

In the evening we watched the film ‘Up in the Air’. It’s a good film and even if you didn’t like the film, George Clooney was well worth watching!
