A beautiful day and so we went to the nature reserve and  a long walk with Ellie. The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch train passed us and everyone waved! We then went  to the Visitors Centre and had a look around and had a coffee there.

Lunchtime we walked to the Warren Inn and sat in the garden. It was such a lovely day, so we had a roast lunch there.

Back to the caravan park and we watched Spurs win their last game and finish fourth! A good finish to my birthday week.

We were offered another discount if we booked another holiday with Park Holidays, so we went to see Tina in reception and booked for September but this time we have chosen the caravan, a long way from the road! She even gave us a free ‘Loopy’ for making another booking!

Mal sleeps through anything but I didn’t, just kept hearing the traffic, so we went to reception and asked if we could move even if we paid more. The park is full, so we couldn’t. I should have brought ear plugs with me or have a couple of drinks before bed! We also told reception that our shower was blocked.

We took Ellie for a run around the country park, she was chasing rabbits and then decided to paddle in a very muddy pond.

By the time we arrived back at the caravan the workmen had been and fixed the shower! Just as well as I had to shower all the mud off Ellie!

We then went off to Dungeness to our favourite Fish Shack. They have the most delicious fresh fish and we always make a point of visiting. I had scallops.

Bu the thing that made me laugh there ,was that they had deck chairs and instead of facing the sea some of them were facing Dungeness Nuclear Power Plant!

We had late afternoon tea at Deblyns Tea shop. This is another place we always visit and sit in the garden. Today there was a couple with two Bernese mountain dogs in the garden with us, they were enormous!

In the evening they had bingo and entertainment in the clubhouse, it was busy in there.

I collected Mal after work and my  birthday continued, we drove to a caravan in New Romney. The park is right next door to the Nature Reserve. A quick run around for Ellie, we unpacked and then drove to The Star Inn at St Marys in the Marsh, a lovely country pub with a nice garden. There is a church opposite and they had a function on and one of the choir tried to persuade us to go, we had Ellie of course, so didn’t. Instead we had fish and chips!

The caravan park spreads over quite a distance but unfortunately I had disturbed sleep as we were right next to the road and all I could hear was traffic in spite of the caravan being double glazed.

A wet walk with Ellie and later in the morning I took her to the vets to be weighed again, she has lost more weight, doing well. I asked about the results from the X rays, she will speak to Cate,  I got the impression they have the results and haven’t told us yet!

Mal called them in the evening, still no answers!

My actual birthday! I had a phone call from Annette my friend in Yorkshire. We only see each other about once a year but when we talk, it is like we saw each other yesterday. She has been my friend for 40+ years.

After dropping Mal off and a nice walk in the park with Ellie,  I met up with the Red Hatters, me with a purple hat, as it is my birthday month. We went for lunch at the Dog and Duck at Plucks Gutter.  Jackie treated me to a prawn and salmon lunch, very good it was too.

I had lots of cards, presents and flowers and I was feeling very lucky.

Mal and I had a quiet evening as we have more coming up at the weekend!

In the evening, I received a “Happy Birthday” text from Scarlet and Jack…………..maybe one day! But it was lovely to hear from them.

A sunny, warm day and so we went to Westgate Bay early. Just what Ellie needed, a dip in the sea. She surprised us by running a lot on the beach, either the pain killers are really good or maybe because she has lost some weight. She hasn’t run like that for a long time!

On the way back we bought a new bird table feeder as ours has gone very rusty.

In the evening Tris and Violet came over with a lovely card and present. We went for a meal in the Red Cow. Lovely to sit in the garden and eat.

I had my hair done last week but there was a section of it that wasn’t cut straight and so I phoned Naomi and she told me to go round and she did it again for me and couldn’t apologise enough. The bonus was while we were chatting that she has said she will volunteer to help run a youth club when our community centre reopens. Mal is now finding people to run events there as Dover District  Council has given the go ahead. That is so positive for our community.

In the afternoon, more of my birthday week, we went for afternoon tea! We asked the hotel to serve us in their garden, they had a posh table laid up ready for us but said OK and brought it outside. It was too nice to be indoors.

We took delivery of a new vacuum cleaner. The Henry we have just isn’t picking up all the dog hairs and also it is getting heavy to lug around, so we have bought a lighter one. It is a daily job with a goldie in the house!
