The Police were still all over Sandwich and all our walks cordoned off, so we drove to Minnis Bay. We were just coming toward the lorry park at Manston and another lorry crashed into the car next to me at the roundabout. They don’t seem good at roundabouts! They really are so dangerous. They tell us only 4 more days and they will no longer be using Manston. Thank goodness for that.

It was cold along the seafront but Ellie loves it.

We made a collection stop at Dunelm on the way home. I would much rather try and keep ‘High Street’ stores open than keep using Amazon. I smashed my quiche dish so ordered a new one, non stick and perforated for more even cooking. Worth a try.

As Mal entered the FREE ITV competition at Cheltenham yesterday and it wasn’t won and doubled today, he entered again. At the last minute he suggested I did it too. Nothing to lose, so I chose my 7 horses. I couldn’t believe it I had FOUR winners!! If only I had put money on them. Again there wasn’t a winner so it is up to £300,000 for tomorrow!

Meanwhile, Sandwich is still crawling with Police and it’s not even on the news!

Mal’s birthday. He opened all his presents and then Sol arrived to bring presents and so he had to stand on the doorstep and chat to us. This really is getting silly. We could have gone for a walk with him but it was raining! Then Mal had all the thank you phone calls to make!

We thought that the Police would have left Sandwich (investigations into Sarah Everards murder) but no. We should have driven out of Sandwich with Ellie as all our lovely walks are cordoned off. We had a very long walk to find any grass for her to run on. We spoke to one of the officers and there are Police being drafted in from different areas each day. Todays were from Canning Town. They are searching the river, drones are up and lots of photographers. By the conversation we had, it sounds “extremely serious.”

It was rather a miserable day weatherwise and so Mal watched Cheltenham and put some bets on. It kept us amused all afternoon. Lunch for Mal was a selection of exceptional cheeses that Tariq and Sol had bought him. They know his weakness and so many! This was followed by birthday cake, with only me singing to him.

You have to make the best of birthdays in these strange days. Mal enjoyed it anyway.

Mal had to return for his contact lens check up and so Ellie and I walked along the sea front in Deal while he was in there.

It’s River’s birthday today, hard to believe he is 24!!

I never thought I would see this “posh fish and chip shop” and “Margit” in the same sentence!

What a lovely surprise for Mother’s Day. Lou, Rhys, Ollie, Oscar and Josie came round, outside of course and we all went for a walk. BUT they brought with them a lovely bouquet of flowers, a card and an afternoon tea, including two bottles of Prosseco. Ollie made the cakes, Oscar made the sandwiches and Josie made the scones. What clever kids! It was so nice having a walk even if they couldn’t come in at the end of it.

Mal had intended cooking a roast but we decided he can do that tomorrow!

A good thing we walked early before all that area was roped off!

We watched Spurs and Hammer get beaten! Not a good football day.

We had a very windy walk with Ellie and also checked out the market but there were only 4 stalls there.

We walked Ellie along the sea front in Walmer. It was really windy and then started raining. Not many dog walkers out today. We go out whatever the weather.

I was asked to be at home for my telephone conversation with the dental department between 1 and 3pm. We returned from our walk in Walmer at 11 and yes, the phone was ringing and it was the dental department! So many questions that I have answered over and over again. Aren’t their computers centralised anymore? I was even asked what I was going for as I hadn’t had any treatment yet! Perhaps I dreamt the treatment at Kent and Canterbury Hospital and all the examinations at William Harvey Hospital.

The conclusion was Dover Dental Clinic would be in touch with me whenever they had a space. I emphasised that Dover clinic was the place I should be going. (Thanks again Allie for your recommendation!) We will wait and see.

We watched the DNA Journey of Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff in the evening. I told Rhys we needed something to watch to make us laugh instead of the doom and gloom they keep putting on. We did laugh, both of us being East enders.

A very windy night and walk with Ellie but the sun was out and everyone we met seems happier. A bit of sun and longer days makes everyone feel better.

Mal went to his old allotment to see if the roof was still on his shed. It is a plastic shed and difficult to secure. He went in between showers and just in time so he was able to re-secure it.

He also heard from the council agreeing that he can take over allotment 33. Good news. It is one of the bigger allotments like mine. His old one was about half the size.

Meanwhile I baked a no yeast Helim bread.

Mal and I felt very lonely at 8pm doing a slow hand clap in response to the governments derisory 1% offer to the NHS workers. We were the only ones out in the whole of our road……people have such short memories.

We watched Spurs win their Europa League game.

I would like to thank Allie who contacted me regarding my dental/periodontal problems and I am happily going to take her advice to request that I am seen at Dover. I really appreciate her input. Thank you Allie.
