I felt a lot better, a good deep sleep helped, which is unusual for me. So, we went out for lunch to Chapman’s in Canterbury. I do love my fish. I had a mixed fish and prawn brochette and it was delicious.

It was another lovely day so we sat in Westgate Gardens for a while.

I had a bit of an upset stomach but thought it would improve so went into Demelza, I just felt worse so was there a very short while and ended up coming home again . I was sick and felt really bad having crippling pains and went to bed. I have discovered that I am allergic to quite a few food stuffs and this was similar symptoms but no idea what it was.

In the evening we watched the Hammers.

Wow, it is summer again! A lovely walk with Ellie in the sun and then back home to get a BBQ ready. We make the most of the sun.

Lou, Ollie and Oscar came round. Rhys was working.

After the BBQ we went around Sandwich, this time we did manage a couple of the Heritage sights. The cinema first. It was opened in 1937 and stayed open right the way through the 2nd world war, having an anti aircraft gun on the roof!

Next we went to U.S.N P-22 boat. It was part of the Allied deterrent preventing the Russian army from expanding from East Germany into the west following the end of WW2. It was operated by the Americans.

This made us all thirsty so we called in the Red Cow on the way home!

We walked Ellie and then intended going to some of the local places for Heritage weekend. Somehow we didn’t do it. We needed a new base for our garden umbrella. Not an easy thing to buy this time of year but Homebase had one at Westwood. I reserved it online and later drove to collect it. I was then told they didn’t have one even though I had reserved it!! No good arguing with them, they weren’t interested. I went to 5 more shops which confirmed my thoughts that it really is too late as each shop were putting out all their Christmas decs and goods. What a waste of time.

We spent time in the garden because it was so warm and then watched the Spurs game, a good result.

We had some sharp sand and pebbles left over from the back garden so after we walked Ellie we took them back to Wickes for a refund. As we were at Westwood at least Mal had to help with the shopping! In the afternoon he went to the allotment and brought home spinach, runner beans, peas, cucumbers and raspberries. Delicious.

Ellie enjoyed the sun.

We took Ellie to the orchards for a long walk. For the first time ever the farmer came and told us we were not keeping to the footpaths and to put Ellie on a lead. They have never bothered before and we have always stopped and chatted to the pickers. We only saw three pickers today. A sign of the times and obviously the farmer is worried people are going to be stealing his apples. If the maps hadn’t all faded and the footpath signs removed (carried out by many a wealthy landowner) we would know exactly where to walk but the boundaries of the orchards have always been OK until today!

I guess the lack of pickers is the foreigners not coming. The apples are all ready, some are being picked. As usual loads just left on the ground to rot.

Lou and Rhys gave me a very generous gift voucher for my birthday. They know how I love fish and so the voucher was for Whits of Walmer. We had been waiting until September when they started their tasting menu again. Wow, was it good?!

I am pleased we chose the tasting menu as their full menu would be difficult to choose from, so many lovely things.

The food was just A1. We would certainly go again.

Mal and I took Ellie for a nice long walk and then I met up for lunch with the Red Hatters. Three more new ladies today and we tried a different venue, The Bell in Minster. Jackie and I seem to spend most of our time organising future events!
