Today is Scarlet and Jack’s 10th birthday. I will never understand why their mother has cut us off from them, I am sure Torin would hate the situation when they often came to stay with us and we had so much fun. But there is nothing we can do, their mother controls them until they are older. We continue, sending presents, cards, post cards and we keep records of everything we do so when they are old enough they will know how much we tried and were denied.
Ollie, Oscar and Josie of course were staying with us and so we all took Ellie out for a very wet and muddy walk and then had to wait for the Co-op to open as it is now a tradition, no matter what the weather, Grandad always buys them Unicones (ice creams). Yes, 10 o’clock in the morning!!
I cooked a roast while Grandad entertained them. He was going to take them to the allotment but it was too wet. One of the things I bought Josie for her birthday was a knitting kit and evidently Lou can’t knit so she had her first knitting lesson and did really well. I have given her some of my wool to practice with.
Lou and Rhys were both working last night and then went out for Sunday lunch as Lou had a voucher given to her for her birthday. It was quite a “posh” place but sadly the food was little to write home about. That’s a shame, they rarely go out on their own without the kids.
So, they came earlier than expected to collect the kids and we sent all the unfinished desserts home with them….too fattening for us!
Of course it got me thinking that it is not only us that miss the twins but Ollie, Oscar and Josie are missing out seeing their cousins.
Thought for the Day – “Grandchildren restore our zest for life and our faith in humanity.”
