We were up early as I had a dental appointment at 9 am in Canterbury. Canterbury traffic is horrendous so we allowed an hour and a half for the journey. Mal came with me and he took Ellie for a run in the nearby park. The dentist scored my teeth for pockets in the gums and next step is to see the hygienist. The receptionist said they happened to have a cancellation tomorrow, why wait? I booked it. So back through the mad traffic again tomorrow.

A bit more relaxing in the afternoon as I had an appointment at the hairdressers. Well, I thought so until I went to the cash machine to withdraw some cash, only to find my balance had gone down considerably.  I phoned Mal in case he had used my account card by mistake, no he hadn’t.  I ended up spending an hour in Nationwide in Deal. They showed me the withdrawals. I had been hacked. Clever, a small amount first and then larger ones paid to a German company. I had no choice but to stop the card. We have a joint account too so I was still able to get cash out but it all took so long. The girl in the bank gave me a telephone number for the banks fraud department. After I had my hair done I went home and called the fraud department. She then told me they could have done it for me when I was in the branch bank!!

This is the second time in a month or so I have had problems with my account. Things like this really drain me. I am not as resilient as I used to be.

We had some snow overnight but the little we had all disappeared very quickly.  We were going to the beach but changed our minds to a local walk and then went out to lunch in Canterbury to Chom Chom. Their red Thai curry is so good. As you can see there weren’t many people in there!

After lunch we went to the art shop as Mal wanted to buy an easel for his drawing. He has started a new course, keeps him amused!

I heard from Cruse, there is a long waiting list. My time will come but at the moment they are contacting people from last summer!

After yesterday’s cold snap, we walked Ellie in the sun and relative warmth. Just as well as we spent a lot of time chatting to fellow dog walkers.

Mal went to the library in the morning, an attempt to use our local resources, before we lose them! He spent an hour on their computers.

I guess one of the bonuses of not sleeping well is being able to watch the lunar eclipse! I’d rather be asleep but thought I may as well fill the time!

My day for Demelza and we had a new lady started helping Jack downstairs, Maryann. We were not very busy but then Canterbury wasn’t very busy either.

Lou, Rhys and the littlies came round after they had been roller skating. I cooked a pork slimming world meal and also liver, onions and bacon. Both very tasty but the kids even seem to like the liver, Lou doesn’t cook it at home. Very few people do nowadays! I also made apple crumble for dessert and I always put cloves in. I think the majority of kids don’t even know what a clove is, so our job to educate our grandkids before these things just disappear!

We watched the Spurs game and they just made it by a very late goal from Winks.

A bit chilly but then it is winter. We went to Wingham orchards with Ellie.

We stopped at the farm shop on the way back. Potatoes seem to have escalated in price AND they are local! They say it has been a bad year for them, don’t they always say that?!

In the afternoon we watched the Hammers game…oh dear they lost. They did mention their goalie did a “Pat Jennings”. He played for Spurs and many years ago came to my parents pub to empty their charity bottle. I shook hands with him, his hands are enormous!

So, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now has his seventh win!! That will please Rhys. It’s no accident who his son Ollie was named after!!

I went shopping early to Westwood, I needn’t have rushed as it wasn’t that busy. I did remember to go to Argos and buy Ellie some tennis balls as a few have gone out to sea. The proper Head championship ones are the best and last the longest. Mal took Ellie for a walk.

There is a local artist who paints pictures of beach huts, sea gulls and local scenes. I have ordered this one of Broadstairs from him.

I find them amusing.
