Spring may have arrived. We walked Ellie in the sun and went to buy the paper on the way back. So handy having a Co op so close. Ellie loves her walks by the river but we have to keep an eye on her that she doesn’t chase the ducks or follow them into the river.

An afternoon sorting more things and putting a few on Ebay.

Early evening we took Ellie to have a sleep over with Jo and Stu in Preston.  We have to be in Herne Bay for 6 am tomorrow for our trip to Brighton to support Lou, running the Marathon in Torin’s memory.  The money is going to Headway, who helped Torin and people have been very generous. I think it may be a bit of an emotional day.

I went to Westwood to get the shopping in the morning and then in the afternoon we went looking for furniture and bought a corner unit for the living room. It spli into two halves so we managed to get it in the car.

In the evening we went to try another Sandwich pub with Ellie. We tried the Red Cow, which is the closest to us but it was really busy and the music was far too loud so we went and sat in the garden. We only had one drink and then walked around the corner to the Mermaids Locker. That is much more friendly, and a really nice ambiance. A lot of the pub is lit by candles, very nice. AND they give Ellie a dog biscuit!

 
I obviously have different taste to the landlord as last week he recommended Brockmans gin, so this week I tried it….not for me and very strong (I had it without tonic!)

Ossie’s chip shop is opposite the Mermaids locker so Mal went in to get chips for on the way home…..not to be done on a regular basis!

Mal and I did some more sorting out and realised we had quite a lot to take to the tip, so we filled the car boot up, put Ellie in the car and dropped the things off and then on to Minnis Bay. It was cold and very misty. This time last year the temperature was in the 20’s! It doesn’t matter how cold it is, Ellie enjoys herself.

 

We took Ellie back home and then walked around town as it was market day, not a vast amount of stalls. We looked in the charity shops (busman’s holiday) and there is also a dress exchange that sells designer clothes and I managed to get a cardigan in there for our Red Hatter days. There is a Thai restaurant and we both love Thai food, so decided to stop there for our lunch. We have to try all these places out. It was excellent food and also the drinks were very reasonable, we will definitely be going back there. The owner was really nice too. It really is such a friendly town.

More sorting out. Bit by bit! I have so many photos. One day I will sort them all out.

In the evening I caught up with an episode of Indian Summer School, fascinating!

Lou, Rhys and the littlies came round in the morning for Lou and Rhys to do a lot more “work” for us. They put up a double towel rail in the bathroom (which is all tiled!) two blackout blinds in bedrooms. They fitted a new light fitting in the hall as previously there was no sleeve on the wires and also a dimmer switch in the living room. Torin had beds for the twins, which we now have, one slips under the other, so Lou put those together in one of the spare bedrooms, another new curtain pole in place and curtains up. They are certainly making life easy for us. They have done so much work around the house. In fact I felt rather bad that I was out for lunch with the Red Hatters. Mal took Ollie, Oscar and Josie to the park with Ellie and they had ice creams on the way back.

So, I went and met the Red Hatter girls and we had a nice lunch but the pub was very busy and we had to wait for the food for quite a long time. We made more plans for the future.

I took Ellie out very early and left Mal sleeping. We went for a long two hour walk along the river. After breakfast we met Lou, Rhys and the littlies at Howletts. We haven’t been for quite a while.  The sun even came out at lunch time.

One of the keepers was in playing with one of the cheetah cubs. We could hear him purring!

Mal took Ellie out as it was my Demelza day. I drove to Wingham and then caught the bus from there. It does come from Sandwich but a lot earlier so I wouldn’t be able to use my bus pass. It may be easier to pay, I will have to find out.

Jack was on holiday and so Lauren was in. It was a funny morning. The batteries ran out in the safe last week and a volunteer ended up putting the over ride key into the safe and shut it!!  Then there was a problem with the batteries! Lauren contacted a locksmith who wanted to charge £60 for drilling the lock. Lauren decided she could damage it just as well for free. A chisel and a hammer and a bit of brute force!! I think Lauren enjoyed it! Finally a locksmith offered his services for nothing! Of course the safe now needs replacing! 

Poor Linda is now using a stick as she is waiting for a hip operation.

We took Ellie for a walk and a ball play. We explored more of Sandwich’s footpaths.

We met Lou, Rhys, Tariq and the littlies for lunch at The Crispin. It was Rhys’s choice for his birthday, as he loves their Caribbean food, they even do a Caribbean Sunday roast . The kids love the burgers they do there and the rest of us enjoy the Caribbean food.

After the pub we came to our house for birthday cake.
