Mal and I exchanged presents and cards for Valentines day but are going out another day. I was very lucky, he bought me a sapphire and diamond ring. It was from Cuttings, our favourite jeweller! Wow.

We then took Ellie for her walk and then to the Skip hire to collect more firewood. Some of the collectors there do make me laugh, almost fighting to get the best bits of wood! Oh please!   We filled the car up with pallets, so it gives Mal some exercise chopping it all.

I went off for lunch with the Red Hatter girls. It was nice to see them all and we made plans for our future events. Jackie (Queenie) even suggested booking our Christmas outing. It did seem a little early to me but hey ho! I have been made vice Queen! I suggested the Brick Lane Music Hall and they all seem keen on going so I’ll have to investigate.

We took Ellie out and then went to the solicitors to discuss the house contracts. Just before we went in, Regal Estate Agents rang to say they would not be sorting out any of the problems as the tenant had a cheap tenancy because of all the issues and it was all on HIS inventory. So their fourth person we spoke to suddenly came up with this. They had covered this up to us.  The solicitor hearing this advised that we make a reduced offer. On returning home we did this via Regal and were told no. This is all Regal’s failure, telling us that things would be sorted out and that yes there were keys for all the things we mentioned . All I can say is that Regal estate agents have us over a barrel, they have done a brilliant cover up job and we have to go ahead or lose even more money and then start back at the beginning again meanwhile wasting more rent money. I will never recommend their agency to anyone. I know estate agents have a bad reputation, this one truly deserves it. 

In the evening we watched Victoria and Abdul.

Demelza day and we were much busier so that was really good news. I guess because the sun was out and it was also half term.

Ellie always likes it when the sun is out and wants to be outside, she even took her teddy out with her!

We watched the Cross country ski-ing from the Olympics. Musgrave, the first Brit in the top 25! He came 7th. A good race. 

We then went over to Lou and Rhys’s to cook the lunch and look after the kiddlies while Lou went to run her 20 miles, with Rhys on his bike training her. The littlies had made some gingerbread biscuits and a special one each for Grandad and I! They were delicious. Mine had an icing dog on it.

We took the dogs, Josie, Ollie and Oscar along the beach. There was a biting wind even though the sun was out.  Ellie and Roddie loved running along the front.

We prepared all the lunch and then I had a message from Lou saying she had hurt her leg (pulled her hamstring) and they were getting the train back from Westgate. They bought their tickets and waited and waited (for an hour) and the train didn’t arrive so I drove to Westgate to collect them. Poor Lou. She was disappointed. They were both so cold when I picked them up.

We took Ellie out, the sun was shining. We walked some of the way with Jo and Stu and the 4 dogs.

We then went to Westwood and collected my glasses. It was quite busy so we didn’t hang around for long.

We watched the Spurs v Arsenal game, a good result and then Hammers won too.

Torin used to buy his dogs deer antlers and he gave Ellie one to bring home. She still has it even though it is well chewed. I ordered another one from Amazon, she really loves them and they are better for her than Nylabones. It arrived in the afternoon.

We had a wet and muddy walk with Ellie. We were very lucky with the weather the previous two days when we were away.

The hot tap to the bath stopped working. We told Lady of the manor  last week. We hadn’t heard anything and so Mal text her and she said she was away but the taps had only just arrived. Her handyman came over in the afternoon. Mal and I find him quite amusing as he moans and groans and talks to himself. He was making a lot of noise banging and crashing and was in the bathroom for an hour and three quarters. He then came downstairs to tell us Lorna had ordered the wrong taps! Couldn’t he see that before he took the others off and also the complete side of the bath? Of course then he had to put everything back together so we could turn the water back on!

We will just continue filling the bath with the overhead shower until they get it sorted out!

We took Ellie for a quick walk before breakfast and then when we did get to the dining room the hotels dog was waiting to greet Ellie!

We packed our things, settled up and then walked to Brockhill Park as it was so nice there the previous day and the sun was out again. Ellie loved it running around as there were a lot more dogs there.

We then went into Hythe. They have some very good charity shops, a bit of a busman’s holiday! You get addicted. I bought a brand new pair of Hotter shoes and we also bought a guitar! There are two Demelza shops in the town. One is a normal one and it also has one just for books. I went in and Helen was in one of them, she is the relief manager, I worked with her once.

Later we went to “Truly Scrumptious” for a snack for lunch. They had a lot of seating outside, with patio heaters and also blankets to put around you, they thought of everything!

It was still really nice and sunny but time to go home!

Early evening my bottle of gin arrived from Amazon, ordered on “Prime” so it was next day delivery.
