After Ellie’s walk we packed the car up and went to the Boot Fair. They advertised that booters should be there at 8.30. We arrived at 8.15 and most of the cars were already there and setting up. There is then a sudden surge as you unpack.

This was towards the end and starting to  pack up..

We certainly took enough money to make it worthwhile and managed to get rid of a lot of “stuff”. Mal wants to do it again!

We later watched the other FA semi final. The wrong team won again!

We returned our acceptance letters to the letting agent and then walked around the orchards with Ellie. I was amazed that the apricots have come on so much.

Down to Minnis Bay with Ellie. The beach huts are all out and ready for the summer.

We called into the letting agents on the way home to collect all the contract paperwork for the new cottage.

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon and I sorted things for the boot fair.

We took Ellie for a long walk along the river. We counted 21 swans and Ellie managed to ignore them all.

We spent the rest of the day “sorting” and have decided to do a boot fair at the weekend. We have so much “stuff”! So, I have been washing, cleaning and bagging things.

We took Ellie out and walked past the cottage we are moving to. Word spreads quickly in a village, a lot of people already know we are moving! The owner of the cottage has agreed that Mal can use their mower if we want the whole huge garden. I hadn’t realised what she meant until we walked past this morning!

They obviously can’t be bothered to mow it before we arrive.

The woods are really looking beautiful.

Mal spent the morning at the allotment and then we went for afternoon tea at Wyevale Garden Centre, another of the Groupon offers. Not as good as last time as they said we could only have two cups of coffee. I told them that was not the offer. I also had lipstick all over my coffee cup! I showed them the offer on my phone which said “as many cups of coffee as necessary”! I also returned the cup that had lipstick over it.  One of the girls came out and apologised for both but she said  the Manager had given them incorrect information. I asked where the Manager was, after all it was his error and he was the one who was paid to take the flack! Evidently he was too tired as he had just been chasing some thieves!

There is a Works concession in the garden centre so we bought some parcel tape and labels ready for the move, then I was short changed £2. I was beginning to wish we had stayed at home. Again this assistant apologised.

We were out for our walk and I was watching Ellie and managed to fall flat on my face. It hurt!

All the apple blossom is out

I had to go shopping but couldn’t manage too much because I had pulled muscles. I did buy a lot of strong dustbin bags so we can start concentrating on the move. I can’t believe that Asda didn’t have any English apples. French, German, Dutch and even some from New Zealand.  No, I can’t buy any of those when we are surrounded by apple orchards and with modern equipment they are now able to keep them 12 months of the year. I did ask an assistant just to check, none!

Mal hasn’t managed to get to the allotment for a while and needs to plant things so he spent the afternoon round there. I know he is relieved that he will still be within walking distance of the allotment.

While Mal was out the company who are  collecting our references for the move, asked if I could get in touch with our present letting agents as they won’t reply with a reference and so could I do it.. I tried for over an hour. Twice I was cut off and eventually I got through, then to be told that they hadn’t heard from them (lie!) and anyway we had to pay £24 for them to write a reference!! So we pay £180 to the new agent as well and it goes on……I understand there was a plan to stop all these fees, bring it on.

In the evening we watched the programme about Billy Connolly. We have seen him several times live and he always makes us laugh. He is now on medication for Parkinsons and had a rather glazed look as he was talking to the camera.

We took Ellie for her walk early.

I volunteered to work at Demelza. Although a few of us work on Mondays, the others had family commitments, so I said I would go in. Mal does his teaching teachers online on Mondays so I wasn’t  missed!

I have to say it was different volunteers and not so much fun as it usually is. I think I shall decline any more requests to work Bank Holidays! At least I was only working until 3.30 as there was only one bus an hour…Bank Holiday!

When I arrived home I discovered a heap of rugs and dog blankets in the bedroom and a couple of Ellie’s chew bones underneath. She had obviously tried to bury them thinking Millie was coming back. Millie spent the weekend taking away anything that Ellie wanted and hiding it from her!  Dogs are funny.
