We were up earlyish and I went to Atakara to buy some fresh olive bread. They didn’t have any so I bought some hellim rolls instead and also Cyprus Today.  Straight after breakfast Mal and Sol were out painting the outside. Textured paint first coat.

They worked all day.
In the evening we went to our favourite restaurant, Charcos in Lapta.

They now have new tables to replace the glass ones. A good thing, as with Mal’s varifocals he always seemed to be banging his hand on the table. Christine has painted them all and the back of the chairs. She told us that she painted 321 roses in all and was up until 3am some mornings trying to get them finished!

As with all her art work, beautiful.
I had the sea bass which is always huge and very tasty here. Sol and Mal had the mixed kebab. We had home made lentil soup first,dessert was quince. Everything was as always, perfect. It’s an all in price including the coffee and brandy.

We love this place and Christina is always so welcoming. They also buy the food fresh every day.

Back home and we had the log burner roaring. It went down to 11 degrees outside.

Today is Black Friday and retailers have sent so many bargains to us and also we were looking for Christmas presents, which we can organise to arrive when we get home. One really good deal is the Amazon Fire Tablet, only £29.99. A couple of those ordered!  Lots of good things at Sports Direct too. Apart from that more sorting the walls out, painting the waterproof layer on and then we went to buy all the paint for the whole job.

A nice sunny day again, so we have been so lucky with the weather.

In the evening we went to Morelli in Karaoğlanoğlu. We haven’t been there for years. It was a nice meal although Mal’s meat was a bit tough but the desserts were good. Sol and I ordered the chocolate souffle which turned out to be chocolate fondant. We did tell the chef his error but he insisted that is what the English cookery book told him! The waiter also asks if everything is “tickety boo”!!

The central log fire was very welcoming and warm.

Sol is rather passionate about his food as he is training to be a chef and already knows a lot. It has become quite scientific in the top restaurants nowadays. At the moment he attends catering college and works part time in the Samphire in Whitstable.

Mal and Sol worked on the outside walls, scraping all the loose paint. They did have a break in between.

I was gardening and heard someone repeatedly shouting “Hello” then realised it was our Russian neighbour Sergay, from the house to the left and below us. He wanted to know if I had any questions??? He then said about the clearing of the land below us. I called to Mal to speak to him as I don’t like the man, we had arguments before when he tried to dig up some of our land when Mal wasn’t here! Anyway, Sergay decided he would come up and talk to us! He is a very nosey person who likes to know everything that is going on. He has told us for the last three years that he wants to buy our house, so we take most things he says with a pinch of salt. I left Mal to it. He also wanted to cut our trees, no thank you. That was only so he would get more light on to his garden. Well, we like them just the way they are.

We had a power cut that started at 10am!

We had arranged to meet Margaretha for lunch at Blue Song as we had brought a few things over for her. It was lovely to see her, she is such a good friend. We just sat down and were chatting when David and Kenny came in, so we moved the tables together so they could join us. They decided to come out as there was no power at home but David hadn’t shaved so didn’t want his picture taking! He is funny. So, it was a really good lunch.

More preparation of the walls when we were back home and then we had a cosy evening in with the log burner on.

I was awake at 3.00am being violently sick and seeing as I had exactly the same food as everyone else the previous night, my guess was that they had monosodium glutomate in something. I have to be very careful as I am allergic to it!

So, we were all up a bit later in the morning and Mal and Sol set to preparing the outside walls of the house ready for painting. Preparation always takes the most time.

Black cat has appeared again now we are back! She just tries to move back in. I have never been sure who she belongs to.

After Mal and Sol working hard, we went to Cano’s Green Palace in the evening.It was a nice meal.

I had a text from Rhys, a photo with him walking Ellie in foul weather in the UK. Sol usually looks after her and walks her but of course he is in Cyprus with us, so it looks as though Rhys has taken over that role.

We started off by doing some gardening and tried to decide what the most important things to do were. Part of the car port roof has blown off in the high winds, so we will have to replace that. I think it will be useful having Sol here! He has been helping out gardening.

It was around 20 degrees during the day, so very pleasant to be outside but the temperature drops a bit at night.

In the evening we decided to go to Tervetuloa. They have a lot of choice on their menu and Sol spotted Kleftico, which at some restaurants you order in advance but they had some and so that is what we all ordered. It’s an all in price there which means you just order the main course and everything else is included, meze, water, dessert, coffee and brandy.Kleftico was 46tl which at the current rate of exchange is £10.98. It was so delicious too.

We were the only ones eating but Marion Stuart came in later so we had a long chat with her as we haven’t seen her in such a long time. Of course she had her dogs with her.

 

 

 

It was a nice evening.

We didn’t wake up until late but it was nice to see the sun coming through the window.

When eventually Sol woke up we went to Acmenya to pay for our car rental and had a long chat with the girl in there.  From there we went to get some food shopping. Lunch was outside and then we had a very lazy afternoon.

In the evening we ate at Silver Rocks as they are closing down for winter this week, so we made sure we had at least one meal there.

I have to say we have never had a bad meal there.
Back home and we sat under the terrace having a drink….or two!

The weather was awful in the early hours and windows and doors were rattling with the excessive winds. We were up early as we were flying to Cyprus. Mal managed to take Ellie for a walk but they both got soaked. We packed everything and went to collect Sol as he wanted to come with us. We dropped Ellie off with Rhys, she seemed excited to be with the kids.

Pegasus had text us the previous day to ask us to be there 3 hours before the flight because of increased security. Yes, we were there three hours early and the check in desks weren’t open! So we waited, and waited. The only benefit being we were second in the queue and asked if there were any leg room seats and she gave us them!

It was then is occurred to me I had forgotten my laptop charger. I knew exactly where I had left it! So, we went to Dixons and asked if they had a universal one. The guy who was serving us hadn’t a clue and didn’t know the difference between watts and volts. He told us no. We went to another shop, they didn’t have one either. Mal decided to go back to Dixons and speak to someone who knew what they were talking about. Success, yes they did have one!  We had something to eat and eventually boarded. The plane was an hour and a half late due to “traffic control in Istanbul”.

A boring flight as usual but at least there wasn’t much turbulence as we had expected.

Acmenya cars were waiting for us when we arrived, drove us to their office where they gave us our car.

David had left all the lights on in the villa for us, we sat outside and had a drink. Because of the now three hour time difference it was 3.30 am when we went to bed!
