I was up early and so went to Sainsbury’s. It was great, no traffic and hardly anyone in the shop.  The best time to go. Back home and we took Ellie for her walk. More horses for her to say hello to.

On the way back home we noticed she started limping and then taking a closer look we discovered she was dripping blood. So, I spent the next hour trying to stop the bleeding from her foot and deciding whether this was a “vet job”. Whilst we couldn’t find anything in her foot, we found it difficult to see exactly where the blood was coming from. While she was still it was easy putting pressure on it but if she started walking it seemed to start bleeding again. Eventually it seemed to calm down. We were going to take her to the Sandwich Folk and Ale Festival but decided it was better for her to stay home and rest her foot.At least by then I knew she wouldn’t bleed to death! She usually sleeps when we are out.

We went off to Sandwich, a lovely sunny day. It’s always a good day out.

By the time we were home Ellie’s foot seemed to have settled down but we decided not to take her for an evening walk to give it time to heal properly.

We walked through the wood to the end of our road and decided to go for a long walk along the river Stour. We usually turn right but today decided to take a left turn. It is obviously a little used footpath and in places difficult to walk along. Yes, we got lost and I am sure one of the fields at least was private property but Mal did his usual “I know exactly where I am going”. No he doesn’t! He had boots on and I had walking sandals and in places I was sinking into the marshes amidst the prickles and slugs!  Disgusting picking slugs off my feet. Ellie loved it even though half the time she couldn’t see where she was going as everything was way above her head.

Mal went off to the allotment and Ellie slept for a long while, it was a very long walk! Mal brought home, chard,broad beans, potatoes, gooseberries and raspberries. They taste so good.

Of course in the afternoon I watched Federer leave Wimbledon and then Andy Murray go through to the final.

Our walk this morning through two woods led us to more horses that Ellie likes to see! They seem to enjoy seeing her too.

I ordered a dress from Debenhams sale on Tuesday and it was delivered to Westwood store so I went early, straight after our walk which meant it was before the car parks filled up. I collected the dress and then saw another, so came home with two new dresses!! Well worth looking, as the second was a Mantaray dress and 70% off. Things are very cheap at the moment, I don’t think “cheap” will last because of all that is going on and how much, as a country, we import.

In the evening we had a Groupon voucher for the Olive Tree Restaurant in Dover. It was surprisingly good and suited Mal as they had very good beer brewed in Deal! The food was good and I had rack of lamb and the waiter even returned the bones in a take away style box, so that Rosie could have a feast when we arrived home and she loved them!

Another lovely sunny day. The sun streams through our bedroom window and so we are always awake early to enjoy the good weather.

We went into Wingham and Mal planted some more runner beans while Ellie and I walked around the orchards. The apricots are doing well and it looks as though the apple trees have had their shaking to get rid of the weaker apples. They are just left on the ground.

So many rabbits again! They were everywhere.

All went really well until Ellie and I were back in Elgar’s field next to the allotment waiting for Mal to finish and without me noticing she rolled in fox poo. In the shower again as soon as we were home! What a disgusting dog.

Tennis in the afternoon, a shame Cilic lost to Federer. Followed by Murray’s game. Rather a lot of sport as we then watched the football and Wales leave the Euros.

We walked over the fields in Preston and Ellie went to see her horse friends.

Mal went to the allotment and brought home rhubarb, broad beans, potatoes and more raspberries home!

In the afternoon we had dental appointments and also the hygienist. I always take pain killers before the hygienist but it really wasn’t so bad this time as my teeth were laser cleaned. The dentist said my teeth were fine so I really don’t know why I had toothache in Cyprus but whatever it was has gone. That was a relief. The surgery we go to has new owners and all new staff it seems and they all seem so young! That’s a sign of getting older surely.

I had cooked pulled pork in the slow cooker (a delicious slimming world meal) so we went for a wander around Canterbury when we came out from the dentist and dinner was all ready when we arrived home.

We were sorting through bargains this morning and realised our English Heritage membership had expired. If you click on the link above, there is a code for 20% off, so we will have to do that!

Another beautiful day and so back down to Minnis Bay. The sea was so calm and blue.At least they have now sorted out  where dogs are allowed! We spoke to a warden yesterday and now they have managed to put the correct signs up! Funnily enough the dogs beaches were much better!

 

We stopped at Westwood on the way back as Mal had to buy some more runner bean seeds to replace the plants that have been eaten! The traffic was horrendous. There suddenly seem to be road works everywhere. Of course after lunch he was back off to the allotment while I watched Wimbledon!

In the evening I went to Fat Club and somehow I managed to lose 4 and a half pounds while I was away so I must be doing something right (even with a couple of brandy sours, gin and slimline tonics and a few desserts!)

It was such a lovely day that we took Ellie to Minnis Bay. It’s a dog walkers paradise down there, always people to talk to and dogs for Ellie to socialise with and long stretches of clean beach and of course the sea.

We were chatting to a couple walking their dog and Ellie found something quite disgusting to roll in. This meant straight into the shower when we were home. Not the best day for her to mess around as Lou, Rhys and the littlies were all coming round for Sunday lunch. I managed to get it all done and even made a trifle but the littlies have decided they don’t like trifle or the apple strudel I made! Not sure why I made the effort . I told them to take it home for the older boys who really love it and all used to be nagging me to make it! Of course Rhys and Mal did have some. All with fresh strawberries too from Mal’s allotment.

It was so nice we had lunch in the garden.

In the evening we watched the France v Iceland game.
