Happy Birthday to our little Oscar who is 7 today.

Mal wanted or rather needed to go to his Garlinge  allotment. Something had eaten all his strawberries and a couple of things were diseased. The fact we have moved and I have to drive him quite a way to do this one , he is thinking of giving this one up after this season. Sadly the allotment in Wingham someone had been in there and uprooted loads of vegetables and stolen tools. He only had potatoes in that one to break the soil. So, they are not very successful at the moment, such a shame.

While Mal was at the allotment Ellie and I went to Minnis Bay. As we were walking towards the beach, a young man came towards me and asked if he could give Ellie a hug. I replied yes of course, well, then he burst out crying! It turned out he had a goldie  who he had put to sleep two days earlier. He showed me a photo of her on his phone and she was almost identical. He was away working and his sister was looking after her and his dog suddenly couldn’t breath, straight to the vets and they discovered a lump in her throat. She then went unconscious. So, he didn’t even have a chance to say goodbye. I hope the hug with Ellie helped him.   Oh my goodness it ended up us both crying!

Late afternoon we met up at the bowling alley with Lou, Rhys and the kids. It was Oscar’s choice for his birthday, bowling followed by a take away. I won the bowling! Yes that was a surprise and so River was teased that a future Marine was beaten at bowling by his Nanny!! He goes in to start his training on Monday. The staff at the bowling alley even put the tennis on for me, so I could watch Murray be knocked out of Wimbledon!

It was nice to see Margate seafront so busy as we drove through. Back to their house for a take away.

Then the birthday cake, made by Lou and Tariq…..

A lovely evening and so nice to be out in the garden until late.

More unpacking boxes and then I had an appointment to have my hair cut at Marcello’s. I have been going there for years and we always have a laugh when I go. This time he has transformed his back yard. He decided to do it for his charity events. He had one Tuesday for Beast Cancer. He opens on his day off and cuts hair for a £10 donation. This time he worked solid from 8am until 8pm. Now all his customers can use this space, which I did while the colour was taking on my hair. He said he would take a photo of me but I told him no thanks not with a gown on and hair plastered to my head. Of course he was more than willing to pose. He also put on some Italian classical music, hair done, nice coffee (was also offered Prosseco!) and all in a nice environment.

The mobile phone reception at the cottage is terrible but at least today we had our landline connected. The internet will not be on until next week!

I managed to only bang my head twice during the day, so that is an improvement. The door into the kitchen is very low and that is where I keep banging it, I manage to miss the low beams elsewhere. I suppose I will get used to it in time, meanwhile it does hurt!

I have not been happy with Eliies dog food, Eukanuba which I have used for years for all my dogs.  They now claim it is anti shedding and Ellie’s coat is now so thick, not a good thing in the summer. Also, at the bottom of the sacks there are a lot of crumbs which there never used to be. I wrote to Eukanuba and quite frankly, they are not interested in anything I say, maybe because they have now been bought up by Mars. Time to change.

I contacted the taxi driver who picked us up with Ellie from Paris airport when we came back to the UK. He told me about a dog food that was very good and I couldn’t remember the name of it. He breeds Goldies and his wife is in the Retriever display team with one of their dogs. It is called Barking Heads and can be found in Pets at Home, so I am going to try that now. A bonus, it is all natural ingredients. I hope Ellie likes it.

For any mistakes or rubbish I write on here, I apologise, I am trying every morning to write in a hurry before we lose the small amount of internet we have!

Ellie’s walk was early and we went into the woods at the end of our road. We met some dog walkers, as always they wanted to stand and chat. We worked hard all day, sorting and unpacking, actually until we both ached, we must be getting old. Mal has done something to his knee and so is walking round like a cripple.

Yesterday we discovered that our kitchen tap was leaking all over the place. It may have been something to do with Tariq and Rhys forcing the larger sofa in, but nevertheless, the plumber came today and replaced the tap. He had a real struggle and Mal had to help him lift the butler sink out. That was the highlight of our day, apart from watching Murray in the tennis!

MOVING DAY!!!!!!

We loaded the car and Ellie and I went to the cottage. Rhys and Tariq arrived with the van and Mal stayed in Shatterling and me at the cottage. It was a long day and goodness only knows how Rhys managed to get all the furniture in. I was just at the point of telling him to put one of the sofas in the shed and we would sell it, when he managed to force it through the low front door. He just doesn’t give up. Everything is in. A good thing we have a very large shed but this move we have decided to start throwing things out!!

We were both so tired after Rhys and Tariq left that we walked to our local to have dinner there. This is the short cut to the pub just behind our new home!

Packing and a couple of loads taken over in the car. We are doing OKish but I hate climbing over boxes, so we have moved lots into the garage.

Anyone dog walking in North Cyprus, please be aware there is poison again, this time in Baspinar.

In the evening we went and had our dinner at the Evenhill in the garden.

Villa in Malatya Cyprus for sale

It looked a little cloudy so Torin and I took the three dogs out quite early.

We just managed to get home before it poured down with rain.When Charlotte and Torin started heading for home, Mal and I started packing again. I don’t enjoy it at all!

We did pop over to drop off a wedding anniversary card for Lou and Rhys. River was home and was telling us all about his Marines selection. He has been accepted and just waiting to hear what date he is going in.

I have decided I am getting far too old to keep moving, Mal wanted to get a removal company in but Rhys said he would be offended if he couldn’t do it along with the boys, bless him. We just forgot about all the packing and labelling!

Charlotte and Torin went off to Botany Bay in the morning and Mal and I packed and loaded the car up. In the afternoon we all went over to the cottage as Charlotte and Torin hadn’t seen it. We  unpacked the car load but Torin couldn’t lift anything as he has damaged his elbow!

In the evening we walked all three dogs to the Anchor and had a meal out in the garden.
