Monday 3rd October 2011

I was out bargain hunting see link again in the morning. I hadn’t been to Bektas in Karaoğlanoğlu, so thought I would give it a try. When I got to the checkout I remembered why it is not my favourite place. I only purchased two items and instead of my 25 kurus change, the cashier handed me a tiny chew sweet! I gave it back to her and said she could have it, I wanted my 25 kurus. So, she opened her till with a ‘Cyprus shrug’ and very begrudgingly handed over my 25 kurus! So, they are still short changing!

I then went to Starling and the gentleman in front of me at the check out was not given his receipt and so asked for it. The cashier handed it to him and he checked his change and then asked for the one lira SHE had short changed him! He stood there checking his receipt and obviously discovered he had been overcharged for a bottle of wine. Good on him, they then had to sort that out for him. Thank goodness it is not only me but it really is about time that they STOP doing this to ex pats. I guess they think they get away with it with holiday makers.   It’s no good looking for the bargains if you are continually short changed and overcharged for items. I gave up then and went home.

We had a seven hour power cut! Mal had itchy fingers because he couldn’t get on the computer!

Sunday 2nd October 2011

We decided it was a “no internet day” as it was Sunday but then I found some more bargains for my Bargain Hunters website see link . It’s becoming addictive finding the best deals for all of you out there. It is all very well putting on deals if you are not sure whether they do in fact work. Seeing as I found a good deal for a meal for 2 and cocktails in London and one of our relatives lives very near to the restaurant in London, I tried it! I bought it as a Christmas present (it has a button at the side “buy for a friend”) I did this entered the details (with their name on it) and lo and behold a few minutes later the voucher was emailed to me with all the details of the offer on it and instructions when it can be used. (MINUS the price I paid!) We are now going to print it on to laminated card. Voila…another Christmas present sorted!

In the afternoon we watched the Chelsea game followed by a very good Spurs v Arsenal game, Spurs winning 2-1. Yes, the best team won!

After the football we spoke to all the family in Cardiff. Tariq played football on Saturday for Canton Rangers and they won 11-0!

Another of my cactus flowered this morning, for one so spiky, it produces a beautiful flower but sadly the flowers only last for one day.

Saturday 1st October 2011

We had really high winds in the morning, things blowing everywhere. The sea really did look lovely and it was so clear we could see Turkey. England had good weather, it seems the hottest October day for 100 years!

It all calmed down in the afternoon and Mal and I walked to the new Malatya supermarket. We bought a few things, along with Cornetto’s which we ate walking back home.

Lyn has kindly brought me the magnetic collar for Rosie (much appreciated Lyn). I am hoping that it will help her leg. see link if you are interested where to buy them. They carry a 90 day money back guarantee, so well worth a try.

Later we watched the Man U game. Not a good first half but they won and so have their three points, closely followed by Man City who also won!
