We took Ellie out and two of the dogs from next door decided to join us some of the way.

I went shopping and Mal went to the allotment, loads of potatoes and apples this time. In the afternoon I made some Borscht with the giant beetroot that Rhys gave us. We both love beetroot.  

Today I have heard from another good old friend, we had many laughs together in the old days and he has terminal cancer. Life can be such a bummer and you never know what is around the corner.

Torin and I took the dogs out in the morning.

Mal and I went up there to collect the twins but came back without them but that is another story! Instead we took Torin out to lunch at the new Wetherspoons which has just opened and drove another 120 miles home.  Karma is a wonderful thing!

We took Ellie out and then drove up to Torins. Ellie always loves seeing Torin and his dogs.

Our gazebo is still in place in spite of overnight rain. At least it is waterproof!

I have just heard on the news that there were three committees to discuss the silencing/renovation of Big Ben. It actually was bypassed on one committee to discuss whether they have a portcullis on the Houses of Parliament cutlery and what shade of green the new carpets should  be!! I am speechless.

Off to Demelza for the day, at least we have fun there even though two members of staff were feeling a bit down, we soon cheered them up.

I had washed two of Ellie’s toys, she was glad to have them back again!

I am really hoping that my nest of Loggerheads wait until I get there!!

We had a BBQ with Lou Rhys, the three littlies and also little Torin is staying with them so he came. Tris and Violet also came over.  We try and get some garden games for the kids but the best game today was to see how to put up a gazebo!! The fact we had three big BBQ’s coming up with always the threat of rain, we decided to buy a gazebo. Mal tried to put it up and it was impossible, you sorted one side and the other sides poles all fell apart. He bought it from Amazon, he said it was useless and told them he was sending it back but he wasn’t going to pay the postage. In the end they refunded the money and said don’t bother sending it back!! So that was the challenge today, we had a really good laugh and eventually with 10 of us we did it! 

We daren’t take it down now! We had a good BBQ and the kids loved playing in the gazebo.

I’d rather not mention the Spurs game!!

“???????? EXCAVATION AND RELEASE TONIGHT ????????

At last, a nest hatched overnight! We will be conducting an excavation and release this evening, Saturday, 19th August so please anyone who wants to come along and observe what we do, please be at The Turtle Shack for 18:15. This nest is at the far end of the beach, so there will be a 5-10 minute walk there and back.

If you have never seen this, do go along, it is a memorable experience.

We drove to Goodnestone, there really are some lovely walks around there, typical Kent countryside.  You have to laugh at this house name.

Sadly the village pub, the Fitz will be changing hands soon. A shame as they were a nice couple who ran it. They are returning to Spain.

I was out early to go to the hairdressers. Marcello had a busy day so told me to go at 8.30, which I did. Yes, he was busy but he always manages to fit me in.

Mal went off to the allotment in the afternoon. A new man has now taken over the allotment next to him so maybe he won’t have all the weeds encroaching any longer.

So, poor Brucie has gone. Watching a programme about him, my goodness that takes you back! Beat the clock?!
