A lovely walk in the sun. Every where you walk in the mountains there are anemones, orchids and friar’s cowls. I hope I am not speaking too soon but it seems distinctly like SPRING!!

I went to the hairdressers,  Nulten Oral, to have my hair done.  There was a young girl there washed my hair and gave me a head massage but I wish she had tested how hot the water was before she put it on my head! Ouch.

Once again things appear to be running out on the island. Why oh why can’t they use stock control here, you know, stock is getting low, we will order some more! So ALL the Mr Pounds seem to be out of dog treats, David and Kenny have even been to the two in Lefkosa. And the Italian dog food I have been buying Ellie has disappeared from both Starlings shops.  I know from experience that some of the dog food here is not so good. I wish I could remember what make I bought Rosie.

In the evening we watched August : Osage County. A good film and Meryl Streep is excellent in it.

Into the mountains for a walk and the first time this year we noticed the masses of orchids up there already.

We are using a lot of pine cones on the log burner to get it going and so collected two more bags. Mal looks a bit like the “bag man”!

I frequently order from the bargains I list at the top of my page each day. The best one at the moment has to be Sports Direct, a cabin case for £3.99!! Mine is getting tatty, so I ordered one and then found more and more bargains, so new crocs, Reebok sandals,  Karrimor walking sandals etc etc!! Some real bargains and seriously worth a look.

So warm in the sun, so outside and more gardening.

It was cold overnight but a lovely sunny morning, quite warm as long as you are in the sun. We went to the beach and then bought some shopping on the way back. I was given two free wine glasses in Starling, not sure if that was the amount I spent or  to go with the two bottles of wine I bought. Vegetables are really good value at the moment, Broccoli 2.90tl  (80p) a kilo, Squash 1.20tl (32p) a kilo and cauliflower 1.50 (41p) a kilo and the long red peppers 2.90tl (80p) a kilo. Time to make some tasty soups and also roasted vegetables. Just out of interest I looked at Tesco prices and broccoli is £2.75 a kilo!!

It was nice and sunny during the day and we had lunch outside but the temperature drops in the evening and then we get the log burner going. I keep hearing about all the floods and bad weather in the UK and here we have the opposite problem, lack of rain!! It is looking as though it is going to be a long dry summer.

In the evenings we have been watching The Last Detective, a series from, I am guessing about 10 years ago.

Our walk was past the pigs, Ellie loves going and saying hello.According to Mal pigs are very intelligent animals.

Colder and windy for our walk, which meant of course loads of pine cones have been blown off the trees. Always good for the log burner!

At first glance Mal thought this was a mantis on our wall, no I think it is just a stick insect.

I did some baking, well it kept the kitchen warm. Always willing to try new recipes I baked a Beetroot and Seed Cake. We buy such delicious beetroot here and the cake was very good. BUT as with any recipe that says to use lemons, use about half the quantity that you would in the UK as our lemons are soooo juicy!! I’ll definitely be using that recipe again.

Down to the beach and quite a rough sea. Ellie is still not interested in going into the water but instead loves digging in the sand. She buries pieces of sponge and also likes burying herself…crazy dog!

Mal and I went out for lunch at Acmenya. They are still doing a 3 course Sunday roast for 20 lira.Plus you help yourself to the deserts, coffee and brandy. All included in the price!! Excellent value and nice people.

We dropped Ellie off at David and Kenny’s so that she can get used to being in their house and with their dogs, as they  have said they will look after her  next time we go back to the UK. I think they have fallen in love with her!!

In the evening we watched ‘Inside Llewyn Davis.’ It is in the top 10 of films, can’t say I was too impressed.

Having not felt well last night, I still wasn’t right this morning but thought a long walk would improve things, not really. I have heard there are a lot of bugs going round.

The weather is going to get colder from tomorrow and our logs are getting low, so along with the shopping we went to Evergreen Garden Centre in Lapta to see how much their logs are. He certainly knows his wood and told us something we didn’t know…..it is illegal to sell pine wood because of the spread of the Processional Caterpillars Larvae. So, why are other people selling it by the lorry load?! Good service too, same day delivery. 400tl. They even came at the time they said! They had some interesting plants there too…...Pitcher Plants.
