We went to Minnis Bay with Ellie. A little dull but no rain.

After taking Ellie home we went on the hunt for armchairs again. This time we found exactly what we wanted. Sorted!

I went to the shops in the morning.

We bought a new electric recliner leather settee a while back and think we need two armchairs. We are hopeless at deciding as they have to be comfortable rather than fashionable! Well, Ellie thinks the settee is!

We went and looked in the afternoon but didn’t find anything wonderful!

The sun was out so we had a lovely walk with Ellie. At one point we were standing in a circle chatting with 5 other dog walkers while the dogs played. Then someone said “Oops there are 7 of us, the Police will get us!” So many unclear rules.

We started clearing out one of the plastic cupboards in the garden. It was going to the allotment but we decided to dump it instead.  Mal went to the allotment and I carried on sorting lots of indoor cupboards out.

I had an idea about the curtains, to move them to opposite ends and it worked, the middle edges then matched and obviously one of the outside edges was an inch longer but it doesn’t  notice. At least it has saved me another trip to Westwood.

A wet day with plenty of jobs to do inside after a wet walk with Ellie.

I went to buy some new bedroom curtains from Dunelm. I tried to order them online but  they were out of stock. So, I went to choose an alternative. I then discovered they obviously weren’t out of stock at Westwood but they were £10 more than online. I spoke to an assistant and I was sold them at the cheaper price. As she said, it looked as though the shop hadn’t caught up with online!

I then went on to Broadstairs to meet Rhys to have a walk and have lunch together. There were only another four customers in Cramptons.

Broadstairs was a little like a ghost town.

Back home and Mal put the curtains up. They looked very nice but when I pulled them together, one curtain was an inch shorter than the other. Oh no they will have to go back!!

We took Ellie to Stone Bay. We could see the rain in the distance but thankfully dodged it. There are a lot of steps down to the bay, so good exercise. It looks as though winter is coming as they were removing all the beach huts.

Mal ordered new shelves for the shed and so installed those in the afternoon and tried to restore some sort of order in there. He even found a dead field mouse. We have seen one looking out from behind the shed!

An explanation of why Mal and I have ended up in Sandwich can be seen on tonight’s “River Walks – The Stour” on BBC2 (can be seen on iPlayer). It really is such a lovely area. Not just the river walks but we have the sea as well.

Lou, Rhys and the kids came round for Sunday lunch. It was nice to have Rhys here as he was not working.

After lunch we all went to the cemetery so Lou and Rhys could put some flowers there for Torin.

Later Mal and I watched the Spurs (my team) v West Ham (Mal’s team) game. Spurs scored three goals very quickly.  Then right near the end, Hammers scored 2 goals and just as I was saying “they have left it too late”, they scored the equaliser! I should have kept quiet. Final result 3-3. Oh dear Spurs. Mal was very happy.
