More drizzle in the morning. Football in the afternoon, Hammers lost again!

Friday 27th February 2026

Still hacking a lot during the night.

Going stir crazy indoors, so after Mal walked Ellie, I drove Mal to Walmer Castle for the second meet up for his writing course. I think he found it more interesting than the previous meeting.

Still feel exhausted. Obviously Ellie does as well. She stood at the bottom of the stairs at 7pm, waiting to be carried upstairs to the bedroom! Mal carried her up there and she was sound asleep when we got up there. I guess my hacking has kept her awake!

My appointment with the “practitioner” at the surgery. Yes, I have laryngitis and  she gave me a prescription for the spray that Mal had bought at the pharmacy! Of course I am still using it. She asked about the other problem I have. I explained what happened at the consultants. I think she felt so sorry for me (it has been difficult trying to report anything back to the surgery) that she insisted she did my blood test there and then – it had been booked for 3rd March. Bless her.

Meanwhile Mal is doing the housework (some!) cooking and Ellie walking. I just feel so exhausted.

Sunday 15th February 2026

Another miserable day. We took Ellie to Sandwich Lakes.  Very muddy but they have a dog paddock there, with a bit of protection from trees. It ‘s a lovely place in the summer but why not try in the winter?!

Of course after the walk we went in to the cafe to get warm! They had all the log burners alight.

We spent the afternoon watching Olympics….we have another gold! Three now!

Saturday 14th February 2026

We exchanged Valentine’s cards and presents and then I went to M&S to buy one of their Valentine meals. When I was there I decided against it and preferred a smoked salmon, prawn and cream cheese starter and then saw some mussels, much more inviting than their set meal! Sicilian compote for dessert and then I bought a bottle of Whispering Angel wine. It cost more than their set meal but much better content! I’d rather choose things we like.

Hammers were playing in the afternoon and managed to get through in extra time!!

Mal cooked dinner and then we watched “The Ballad of Wallis Island.” We really enjoyed it.
