I went to the shops for more Christmas inspiration…..very little and the queueing started so I came home!

After lunch we went to the allotment, digging over and sorting out, in fact Mal is completely re – planning as we did it all so quickly when we took the allotment over in January. Now we have time to improve it. It seems so empty after all the many crops we have had all summer.

Wet, windy and wild could sum up our walk with Ellie. Mal has discovered his waterproof mac is no longer waterproof! Time for another. I wore my new wellies. I always have a spare pair for winter. I understand this is storm Alex, coming from France.

Good news yesterday David and Kenny have bought a house in Ayreshire. They have sold their Cyprus house and staying in a friends villa until the dogs passports are complete. Nearly on their way back! Yeah!!

I made some parsnip soup for lunch and also an apple cake. Mal baked some sun dried tomato bread. Winter must be coming on!

In the evening we met Tris, Jem and Dom in Ramsgate. It was a type of birthday celebration for Tris’s birthday the following day, when he would be in London. To be honest it was quite worrying, the number of young people ignoring the rules but we kept our distance. If it hadn’t been heavy rain, we would have sat outside. We managed to have something to eat and a cake I took for Tris but by 9pm the security guards were moving people downstairs, so we left! Going out really isn’t fun anymore.

We had a very long dog walk, not in distance but everyone who stopped to chat! I guess people are beginning to talk more now they don’t have to keep quite so much distance and obviously bored with being at home. A long chat with a lady with a Toller (Nova Scotian Duck Tolling Retriever), the same as our last dog Rosie. She was so surprised we knew what the breed was! We compared notes on what high maintenance the breed was.

In the afternoon I braved it and went to the hairdressers! I haven’t been since March and my hair was getting long. Katie is only letting two clients in at any one time, so you have to turn up at your right time or you will be asked to wait outside or go for a coffee in Deal. She hates doing it but that is the way things are now. Of course, no magazines to read and none of her delicious coffee either! But she made a good job of my hair and a lovely head massage.

Ellie does like her cuddles with her teddies!
