I still had a swollen face and toothache and so phoned the dentist as soon as they opened to ask for an emergency appointment. Penny had a day off, so I booked with someone who may be a locum. I just took more pain killers and we walked Ellie to Gazen Salts as it was really lovely weather.

In the afternoon I went to the dentist and I think his name was Ye Kyaw and he looked about 12. I tried to explain the problem between Maxillofacial and Penny and the fact I had only seen Penny on Monday. He agreed I had a problem where my face was swollen and started tapping teeth to see which hurt. I told him I had taken pain killers just over an hour before, so could feel very little. He said “Oh dear”, I told him I have been in pain so I take pain killers! Silly me I thought that was obvious. So, he decided to take an X ray which he more or less said was inconclusive! He wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and suggested I asked to go on the short list to see Penny again, my appointment at the moment is December! I guess so many dentists now have at least 6 months backlog.

I stopped off at the pharmacy on the way home. It was Boots in Sandwich, actually Mal went in to get them while I parked. The pharmacist asked him if that was his chosen pharmacy. Mal said yes as this is where we live. I think it must be something to do with Boots closing down some of their shops. Who knows things have become very strange.

We walked Ellie and later I went to Westwood to meet Rhys for lunch. This restaurant was different again. They did wait on the tables but at the end of the meal you had to go and pay at the counter. Greene King have not quite got it all together!

It was nice to see Rhys and we had a lot to chat about. It was just a shame that again I had tooth ache and a swollen face.

Mal and I often say that we should pretend we are on holiday and explore everything around where we are living, so we started today! We went to St Mildred’s Bay. It’s many years since we have been there. Ellie loved the beach and even found one of her own, another Goldie, to play with!

We went to Millie’s beach bar for a coffee and then stopped at our butchers on the way home. He is selling Turkey Breast rolls, fresh. Rhys usually buys them for Christmas and they are really good. I have a feeling that the turkey farmers are starting to panic that people won’t be buying the big joints at Christmas this year.

Later in the afternoon I started knitting some poppies. I have a lot of red and black wool left from last year.

I woke up at 4am with tooth ache, a good thing I have Ibuprofen by the bed! I guess that is after the poking about in my mouth yesterday by Penny. She did say I had an ulcerated abscess under my tongue  which I knew and told her I get so much mouth pain, I’m not too bothered by it. One day they will all get a “plan” together for me.

A really nice sunny day and so we took Ellie to Gazen Salts for her walk.

Mal was doing a job and seems to have lost his allen keys that he “put in a safe place”, so we went to Westwood to buy another set. We also collected a water filter we had ordered and Mal bought some new trousers.  It’s rare to get him out shopping!

We walked Ellie and then went to Canterbury because at long last, my dental appointment had arrived. I had been text with all the instructions, the door would be locked, don’t knock until exactly the appointment time, temperature taken etc etc.

I followed the rules only to find 6 other people in the waiting room!

Three quarters of an hour later, Penny was ready for me. The usual Covid questions, temperature had been taken and then I explained what happened at Maxillofacial. She was angry that she hadn’t received a letter from them and how could she create a plan (as they suggested) until she knew what they were doing. So, she checked my teeth, said if she can’t get an answer she will be going up to Kent and Canterbury Hospital to see them! Meanwhile she told the nurse to book me a periodontal appointment with her, she did……December!! Let’s hope the three wobbly teeth hold on! She did say she would ring me if she heard anything.

I have some turmeric which I planted in pots in the afternoon. I’ll wait and see if it grows, I have never tried before.

We walked Ellie in the drizzle, not as much rain as we thought it would be. We met Nick (and his dog Ludo) and they had been foraging and had a nice collection of “mushrooms”. Nick knows his mushrooms and in fact runs courses on it.  

Mal wants to go on one of his courses but they fill very quickly.

We watched the Hammers game, Mal was very happy with the result 3-0.

As for the Spurs v Man U game, what a shambles. Martial should not have been sent off (and I am the opposing side supporter!) I don’t remember seeing Man U play so badly. Perhaps Oli’s job will be on the line now. I should be happy, Spurs won…….6-1!

Football has gone crazy….Liverpool lost badly too.
