I went shopping and thought it was market day in Ramsgate and I haven’t been there for a long time.  It is no longer market day on Fridays! A lot of the shops have closed down. I couldn’t find any decent birthday cards or several other things I was looking for, Ramsgate is now the pits! So, no problem I would get the food I wanted from Waitrose. 15 people in the queue outside……no I wasn’t going to queue. I drove back to Sandwich and went into the Co op for the food I needed! Perhaps I should stick to Westwood.

Some good news. Lou has won a 65″ TV in a raffle and today Dan Osborne has been to present it to her. (I didn’t know who he was either 🙂 !!)

We bought Mal’s sister, Marion an annual ticket for Wingham Wildlife Park for her 70th birthday. Because of lockdown we only took her on her birthday and haven’t been since. We now consider it safe for her (she has a few medical problems) so today was the day. She loves it so much there and because she gets excited she gets very loud bless her but it is good to see her having such a good time. She kept shouting out that it was much better than seeing the animals on the TV!! Thankfully it didn’t rain. I love the orangutans there, they really are such characters.

Mal taught Marion how to take pictures on her phone and she was so happy with that.

We had our lunch there. It wasn’t good and the coffee tasted just like frothy water but I guess the money goes towards the upkeep of the animals so you can’t complain, especially not this year!

The sun was out again, so a nice walk with Ellie.

I met the Red Hatters for lunch at Cliftonville Indoor Bowls Club.  The social distancing was a pain, we had to sit on three separate tables and stay where we were.

The staff in there were so rude. One of our members mothers has died and so she was unable to join us. We had to pre order and so told them as soon as we arrived that we would be one short. The waitress told us we would have to pay for that meal even though it hadn’t been cooked. It went on from there and we decided we would not be returning there again. We felt very unwelcome . We also asked if we could give them our drinks order and were told “Go to the Bar”. Well, every other establishment is table service and so should they be but have obviously ignored it.

Because none of us have any idea what is happening from one day to the next , we have decided to cancel our Hatters Christmas lunch at the pub we were going to book. In December it is bound to be busy and crowded, so decided against it. Such a shame but perhaps a wise decision.

What a difference a day makes, it was such lovely weather the previous day but today it was raining and miserable.

I met Rhys in Broadstairs at the Esplanade. The plan was to have a wander around the sea front and then go for lunch. We did but it was a little wet. Here Rhys is, as we were pretending to be tourists, with Bleak House in the background!

We went for lunch at Cramptons. Things were well spaced out, phone numbers taken and table only service. At least it was dry in there.

Our beach morning, we try to take Ellie at least once a week and it was a lovely sunny morning. She loves going in the sea and then rolling in the sand of course!

The sky was so beautiful.

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon.

Lou, Ollie, Oscar and Josie came round in the morning and we all went to the allotment where they were working hard digging their plots.

I came back a little earlier to finish the lunch, a lovely turkey breast from the butchers. For a change I cooked mash potato instead of roast but the kids loved it because I added cheese to it! I also made an tart tatin, to use up more of the many apples we have! I send a meal home for Rhys as he was working.

We then watched Nadal thrash Djokovic in the final at Roland Garros.
