Pre Christmas shopping is now getting frantic so I left early to get the supermarket shopping. It was all done apart from small Bonios for Ellie which she was running out of. I stopped at Range on the way back but they didn’t open until 9am so I had to wait outside for 20 minutes. Westwood branch ran out  last week!

Our walk was later than usual but we decided to go for a really long one. I can’t say I was at all impressed to see this at the Grange as we went past. The hounds were making such a row too. I thought this was now illegal??

Having taken Ellie out for a long walk we decided to catch the bus into Canterbury. Parking and traffic is horrendous any time in Canterbury and even more so this time of year.

There is a Christmas market in the centre of Canterbury and at least today I could have a glass of mulled wine as I wasn’t driving.

Mal went off to get his few bits and then  we met up again for lunch at our favourite restaurant Azouma.   We love that place but weren’t too impressed that they have put up their lunch prices “because it is Christmas and they will be going back down in January”! AND it didn’t say that anywhere.

In the evening of course we watched “Ball and Boe”. Excellent.

I had an appointment at The Salon in Sandwich. I made the appointment for 9am as I wanted to discuss the colouring of my hair. I arrived at 8.50. The nice receptionist made me a coffee. Well, more people came in and I was still sitting waiting there for my stylist. At 9.30 they decided to phone her and she forgot to set her alarm!! Another girl started on my hair, a long story to go into but I was not at all happy and this is not a cheap salon! When my stylist did arrive she went straight to her next client and ignored me. It just went downhill and I just wanted to leave.  What a disaster. Needless to say I have contacted the owner, who wasn’t in today. I had been looking forward to a relaxing couple of hours and it turned out to be far from it.

Things improved as in the evening we went to Margate to see Chas and Dave. They are always very good and it’s a special place to see them in Margate as they love that venue. For Chas and Dave, the venue is set out with tables rather than  concert seating and always after the interval everyone is up and dancing  and again when they (and us) sing “Dahn to Margit”, you would think we lifted the roof!

It’s always a good night with them.

Mal caught an early train just to make sure he didn’t have a repeat of last night’s cancellations. I dropped him off , a quick dash into Asda and then walking Ellie. I chose to go to an alternative orchard where there aren’t so many rabbits! All done and back home before 9am!

My choice for the thought for the day is rather poignant for me. A friend of my nieces has cancer and desperatley in need of drugs. It is all here in “Nina’s Christmas Wish” should any of you want to read her story. I often think people don’t seem to care nowadays and are too materialistic. This really has proved me so wrong, and I am so glad. I have been watching this daily The target of £100,000 seemed impossible, now the total is £96,052.00. At this time my faith has been restored with 6,935 “nice” people. It now touches my heart that so many people have donated.

I seemed to spend all day cleaning and domestics! But Ellie and I had a lovely early evening walk.

There was a lot of fog when I drove Mal to the station. I took Ellie to the orchards and took some photos and then looked for Ellie and discovered  she was chasing a rabbit, next thing she had caught it and it was squealing. I then had to chase her down the dip at the side of the orchard, where the burrows are to make sure she let go of it! Perhaps she thought it was another Teddy but one that could run very fast! I did manage to get her to drop it but then had to climb back up and I think I twisted my knee on the way down!!

I collected Mal from the station but because of all the strikes, his train was cancelled and then the next one didn’t stop at Sturry……………….I waited for 45 minutes! Of course he text me on my way there but I never take any notice of my phone when I am driving and always have the music on too loud!

It was very cold and I had to de-ice my car. My day for working at Demelza. I took some Turkish Delight in for the rest of the workers but Jack was at the hospital with a damaged cruciate, Gemma and Heather were both off sick, so we were a bit low on staff. I do enjoy working there.

I thought I may have missed out on their Christmas “do” but there seems to have been a lack of organisation and now it is going to be in January!

Mal had dinner ready for me when I arrived home.

Ellie does love her teddy and it has lasted well. Our last Goldie used to carry them around for about three months and then suddenly demolish them, then I’d get another one from the charity shop. This one is lasting well. Ellie likes it because it is soft and fluffy.

Another lovely day and so after breakfast we went to Minnis Bay for a long walk. Lots of other dog walkers down there along the sands.

There were also a lot of Brent geese flying above us. We didn’t see any palm oil on the beach. I know one dog was seriously ill having eaten some.

Rhys told me that they were going to see Father Christmas today and Josie said she was worried he wouldn’t turn up. Lou asked her why she thought that and she said because last year he got lost and Grandad had to stand in for him at the party!! We had all forgotten, the kids came to our village party and Mal was Father Christmas but we had to tell the little ones FC hadn’t arrived and Grandad was just helping out. We couldn’t spoil it for them. Thankfully this year Father Christmas was there waiting for them!

In the afternoon we watched Bournemouth v Liverpool, what a turn around that game was with Bournemouth winning 4-3.
