It was quite foggy when we walked Ellie but still very mild.

We drove into Sandwich later for their Christmas market. By the time we arrived the sun was out. They even had snow there (a snow machine). To be honest I thought the market was a little disappointing as Sandwich usually put on a very good show.

This shop always amuses me, No Name shop in No Name Street.

When we were home again Santa and his helpers had magicallty arrived in Preston before us!

Of course we had to watch the Strictly final in the evening. The three finalists were all very good.

I went shopping early, very wise as the car parks filled up so quickly. I may have managed getting most things for presents now. For anyone who still has things to buy M&S have a lot of gifts and wrapping paper, all half price. We should all leave it to the week before, Ha ha. I also bought my Christmas jumper and as I suspected most of them were reduced!

Mal went to the allotment to do some digging and get some parsnips while I did more present wrapping.

In the evening there was a knock at the door and a man standing there saying “Better late than never”, I didn’t quite get what he was saying but it was a bouquet of flowers from Mal, that was a nice surprise, then I realised what he was saying, had it been my birthday or something yes 8pm was a little late for delivery! As it was they were just flowers “because”. That’s nice getting them as a surprise. White lilies too, I love the perfumed ones.

We went for a very long walk in the morning. The giant rhubarb is well and truly dead. It fascinates me the way it will perk up again in the Spring.

The cauliflowers and cabbages are nearly finished and the wheat is in the ground.

Ellie is so funny with the horses, especially the white one, they love each other and run up and down either side of the fence!

Members of the fan clubs for Alfie Boe and Michael Ball (me included) have priority access to tickets for next years concerts – “Together Again”. I am certainly not on my own thinking that moving their concerts to huge arenas is going to be anywhere near the same experience. It is not. There is no way I am going to the O2 to see two dots on the stage and watch the screens, I would rather stay at home. PLUS the tickets are for a years time!! A lot can happen in a year. Obviously thier promoters making the most of their success on this “Together” tour. What a shame. I have to say Facebook is full of many fans saying exactly the same thing as me. Perhaps greed has won over.

More present wrapping in the afternoon. I can only do so many at a time!

We took Ellie around the orchards making sure there were no rabbits around. On the way back we posted some parcels in Wingham hoping that the postal strike will not affect their arrival. I wrapped more presents during the day. Ten grandchildren and the rest, it takes a long time so I find it best to do a few at a time.

In the evening I met up with the Red Hatters but as we were unable to get anyone else to join, it was decided to stop being members of the Red Hatters and just meet up as friends now and again so we are now the No Hatters! They are a lovely group of ladies. One of them, Jean, is 81 and is also very ill, You wouldn’t know it as she is the life and soul of the party. Long may it continue Jean.

We had a lovely meal, secret santa gifts and a lot of laughing.

We took Ellie out over the fields and through the woods.

Later I went to Westwood for more shopping. I am really getting fed up with shopping now. It wasn’t too bad in Preston but the nearer I got to Westwood, the foggier and damper it became. It turned into a really miserable day. There is a new Warehouse Iceland just opened there and so I had to go and look in there. It’s huge. I also had to go to Asda to stock up with Ghost Ship (beer) as they are selling it 4 for £5 and it is Mal’s favourite. I should have made him come and carry them!

The roads around the village are in a terrible muddy state because of the houses they are building, an awful mess. My car is filthy too.

I went to do my volunteering at Demelza’s shop. The Manager is always off on Mondays and Jack, the assistant manager is in charge. He has damaged his leg and was hobbling up and down the stairs with the help of a crutch. There is also Matt who was on a placement scheme and loved it so much has continued two days a week. Linda and Heather work with me in the morning. They only do half a day but we get on so well together. In the afternoon I am usually joined by Gemma but she has been off sick for the last few weeks.

Jack usually works downstairs with Matt sorting donations which means I am on my own in the shop in the afternoon and it is nice to keep busy which we did and took quite a surprising amount of money.

Mal always cooks on Monday so that is nice to have dinner ready when I get home. He doesn’t go back to college until 3rd January.

There are some extraordinarily kind people in this world. I checked on Nina’s Christmas Wish again and the target has been reached! I am so happy for Nina and Ed.

After breakfast we went to Minnis Bay, later than we usually do but that ensured that the sun was out. Of course Ellie had to swim.

She did roll in the seaweed and the sand but that is what she does at least she didn’t stink like yesterday, in fact someone said how nice she smelt, that was the dog shampoo from yesterday!

Lou, Rhys and the littlies all came round in the afternoon. It was nice to see them. Of course we had to watch the Spurs v Man U game.
