I was out early again with Ellie, back home and made some breakfast and then it was time to drive Marion back to Ercan. I stayed with her for check in and then we acted like a total pair of wallys when she had to leave. Apart from missing each other it is the first time she has travelled on her own since Bryan died, which must be difficult for her as they were married for 40 + years. I HATE airport goodbyes!!
Back home and plenty of cleaning and washing to catch up on.
I have now been without water for a week. I spoke to Lena, who spoke to the Muhtar and they said we would have some last night. Oh no we didn’t. As Mal said have they ever lied to you before!! Ha ha.
Later in the day Mal and Torin phoned me. Torin makes me laugh. He has a major decision to make…..what company car he wants next!! It’s down to a choice between an Audi or Merc. Comfort or economy?! I say one and then he says but what about……! He is in Holland today so will have to make the decision.
Mal was invited over to Rhys’s for lunch.

I walked Ellie early again with Marion still sleeping and then went to buy some olive bread which we had for breakfast and also Cyprus Today. I have to say I struggled to find anything of interest in it.
Marion wanted to go to Lambousa market so off we went. The hotel (renovated) is now open and looks very nice. Out of there and we went to the Wild Duck for a drink. There was no one in there and we didn’t like the fried onion smell(!) and so moved on to Hannimeler, again right by the sea. It was breezy but much better than the smell of cooking onions at The Wild Duck! It was so nice we decided to have our last “meal out” there as Marion leaves tomorrow morning. Another good meal with a free “surprise” desert, which we think was syrup preserved walnut. Extremely sweet! I think Marion wondered what on earth it was. The chicken şiş was huge, so Ellie was in for a treat. The picture is şiş for one!

In the morning Marion and I went to Mavi Köşk. She hadn’t been before and was very impressed so I am glad I suggested it. If you decide to go, don’t forget your passport as it is on military land. The views are amazing there but blighted a little by the heavy plant from the building of the Geçitköy reservoir. As the link says, it should have been completed by March this year, of course it wasn’t, this is Cyprus! I hope it is completed soon, we haven’t had any water for a week!! The reservoir as it is at the moment….
Mavi Köşk really is a step back in time. It is only 3tl entrance fee and there is also a little hut selling drinks and ice creams within the grounds (a can of peach juice 1 and a half lira!)
Mavi Köşk
Unfortunately the swimming pool had no water in it , so you couldn’t see the water jets going. Perhaps they are waiting for the water through the pipeline too!!
Of course on the way back we had to stop at Mardo’s for an ice cream!
In the evening we decided to go to Charcos and drove the only way I knew to get there. We couldn’t get through as Lapta Festival was on and the road was closed. So, we walked around the stalls.
Then we had to think of an alternative to Charcos so drove back down to Silver Rocks. A good choice, a table right next to the sea with freshly caught sea bass and they even filleted it for us. Delicious.
I was out at 5.20 with Ellie. We did a mountain walk passing the waterfall which is our water source. We are now being rationed with our water. OK I understand that but what I don’t understand is water pouring all over the ground instead of going into people’s tanks!
Wasted Water!!
Come on Alsancak Beledeysi, this is no joke!
It was getting hotter. 34 degrees in the shade under our terrace.
David and Kenny invited us over to their house for lunch along with Colleen and Seren. Good food and good company but very warm as there was just no breeze blowing where we were sitting.

Of course Ellie had to come too to see her friends!!
I took Ellie out early, having decided Marion is never going to make the early morning walk. She is usually still asleep when we come back but look what she misses…..
We decided we were going to have a day at home as it is hotting up (36deg). Previously we had discussed going to the Merit Royal for lunch one day. So, we changed our minds and went today! Lunch there has now gone up to 60tl but still a bargain as that includes everything , three courses, drinks and coffees , everything.
Marion was suitably impressed but we had to keep having breaks in between courses. Marion doesn’t usually bother with desert but she did today! In fact she sampled quite a few.
We were full by the time we left. We waited quite a while to pay and no one seemed too bothered so we had to ask the chef to go and find someone. In the end a guy came, took our money and suggested next time we book a table. Neither of us could understand his logic as it is a huge restaurant and there were only about 8 other people in there!
From there we walked next door to the other new building, having been told these were to be high class apartments with shops below. Not at all….next door is Merit Royal Premium!! So we went and had a nose around there! Well, not many guests in either!
We have actually sat on our terrace and watched these being built.
