We took Ellie to Pertev’s and he took her blood test. He also examined her leg thoroughly and thinks she  pulled a muscle as there is no other problem. She is walking  much better now  – 30tl.

Back home and then later we went for a walk along Guzelyali beach. I hadn’t realised quite how much pipeline work was going on there. At least we saw a few markers for turtle nests.

From there we went to the Cabin to have lunch. Lovely sea bass. Marion and I both love fish and the view, a nice place to have lunch.

By the pool for the rest of the afternoon and swimming.

In the evening we sat on the terrace chatting late into the night with a jug of Pimms. I have found one of the best things to add is frozen raspberries instead of ice which waters the mix down……even big sis didn’t know that one!

Marion went to bed and I stayed up to watch England play Italy. It started just as we came home from the concert. They lost 2-1.  One of Marion’s friends, Vick, is running a lotto on the football. Guess the scores for all the games. 90 people have entered. Let’s say I am not at the top!! Torin and Rhys have done it too.

5.45am I was up again with Ellie and a short walk with her as her leg is not 100% but I have to take her to Pertev tomorrow anyway  for her blood test following her rabies shots. I’ll see what he has to say about it.

After about 3 hours sleep we decided to have a lazy day. I suggested we go to Acmenya for Sunday lunch, to save cooking. When we arrived guess who was there? David and Kenny!! That was a surprise and so they asked us to join them,.

I only took Ellie for a very short walk as her limp was not as bad but still there. I think rest overnight improved it. Then Marion and I went to Lambousa market. From there we walked along the Lapta Walkway and even stopped at the kiosk for a drink. It seemed the only right thing to do as they had no other customers and no one was on the walkway except us! How much money did the walkway cost?!

I bought Cyprus Today. No comment

Swimming in the afternoon.
In the evening we went to Girne Amphitheatre to see The Desperados – Supposed to be the best Eagles tribute band and they were very good. What a backdrop for any gig!

Girne Amphitheatre
Girne Amphitheatre

The only problem at the amphitheatre is sitting on the hard steps for a long time but Marion and I like so many others, took extra cushions with us! We both really enjoyed it and did wonder why the place wasn’t packed as it was only 25tl entrance. As they say “only in Cyprus”….at 11.30 they band lost all sound. Maybe if their sound engineers hadn’t spent their entire evening on their mobile phones, it may not have happened. However, like true professionals, they sat at the front of the stage and we had a “community Eagles sing song.”

They fixed it eventually and continued with the rest of their act. A really good night.

We arrived home at 1.00am, just in time for the football!

In spite of a late night, I was up at 5.30 and out with Ellie. I left Marion in bed sleeping. Later we went to the money exchange so Marion could change some money into lira.

After her walk Ellie started with a bit of a limp and a slight swelling on her left leg. I guessed she probably pulled something as we went for a long walk and she was running around.

I took Marion to Green Heights Park and we had lunch up there, very nice as it always is.

Ellie was still limping slightly in the afternoon, not helped by chasing around the pool when Marion and I were swimming. I decided it was better not to give her an afternoon walk, so Marion and I went for a walk on our own.

I made a cup of tea when I arrived back home. Took the rucksack out of the car and later discovered I couldn’t find my phone. My camera was there and everything else but not my phone. I have Mal’s Cyprus phone here but it has run out of credit so I couldn’t ring mine. Ellie and I had done a very long walk (typical) and I finally decided that we would have to retrace everywhere we had been. I really didn’t need this today and it was already getting hot. Just as I had locked everything up, got Ellie in the car, I thought I could always try Skype on the computer to ring it just in case. Back indoors and yes, I could hear it in the distance!! At first I couldn’t make out where it was……it had fallen under the seat in the car. I will have to be more careful in future to make sure that the rucksack is fully zipped up. What a relief I didn’t have to do the walk again. All this before 7.45am!

I cleaned the pool and sorted out the spare bedroom for my sisters arrival in the evening. I also watched Murray with a very poor tennis match and he is knocked out!

David and Kenny offered to lend me their jeep to collect Marion, they don’t have much faith in “old Bertha”. It was really sweet of them but they already do a lot for me, so I thanked them but said I could go in my car!

I took Ellie with me and she was a star, after her initial fear of all the noise and bustle, the ticket office men made a real fuss of her as did many others. She was very good and just sat and waited. One man even took her photo and told me she was beautiful.

We drove home with Marion telling me how rude and unhelpful the hostesses were on the PEGASUS plane….nothing new there then! Indoors and Marion really got upset, I guessed she would as the last time she was here was with her husband. I know it is all these “firsts” that she has to get over since losing him. A glass of wine helped a little.

A good discount today, 20% off summer clothing at Debenhams, time to look and get things sent to Mal! He is off to his brothers today to help with some renovations on their house. Mal is going to be his apprentice. Those who know him will know he is not the most practical of people but following Steve’s three strokes, he felt his effort was better than nothing. I hope they have some valuable “bro” time together. Shirley is having a couple of much needed days away with her daughter, after all she has been the full time carer. It also means Mal has time away from exam work and then he can return and complete any problems when he has finished at Steve’s.

Ellie had a friend on the walk today, her owner has damaged his leg and unable to walk the dogs, so one of them came with us. I had a chat with the owner first and then the dog was quite happy to join us. The dogs spent the whole time chasing each other around.

Crazy dogs!
Crazy dogs!

Good news for cherry lovers in the UK, they are saying it is going to be a bumper harvest this year. Growers say the bumper crop is a result of the fifth warmest winter since records began. So maybe Mal will get some too.

Murray had an easy match in the afternoon. I went in swimming and have almost mastered stopping Ellie running around the pool barking every time I swim and then jumping up as I get out, not nice claws on bare legs! We are almost there.

I spoke to Mal in the evening, now in Tewkesbury with Shirley and Steve.

Another beautiful sun rise on our walk. It is getting lighter much earlier, obviously because it is June. Back home and I cleaned the pool and backwashed it, put the washing out, all before 8am. I also give Ellie a good brushing every morning when we get home to get anything out of her coat that she has picked up along the way and also to get rid of the handfuls of hair she is moulting at the moment.

10-06-14 03-09-53 - 0018I met the girls for lunch at Green Heights. It really is one of my favourite places, classical music playing and a very relaxing place. The food was good too and of course the company, so a lovely afternoon.
