Mal and I took Rosie out for her morning walk. It was a long way and made me realise I had not fully recovered from the flu and spent the rest of the day exhausted. Mal decided as rain was forecast (no we didn’t have any), that he would start painting the winter lounge. We now buy the dye and mix our own colours as the shop mixes never seem to turn out the colour we want. It is now obvious that our builders messed up with the plaster on one of the walls as the original paint started peeling off on to the roller. What a mess. When it dried Mal decided the only course of action was to scrape it all off, seal the wall and start again.

The hunters woke us up at 6 in the morning, wonderful as we went to bed at 1.30 after watching the fight. Whoever it was with the gun was far too close to property and so we decided to take Rosie to the beach. It is the first time I have walked Rosie since returning from Turkey and how I needed that walk. I was going very stale indoors all the time and no exercise, not even swimming. It was lovely and of course Rosie loved the sea. We found lots of sea daffodils all along the beach.

During the morning the hunters came far too close and the Police had to be called. They should be more than 500 metres away from property.

Mal started digging at the front of our land in preparation for putting fruit trees in. Later we watched the Man U – Chelsea game. Chelsea won 1-0. No comment. We rang the boys in the eveing and Rivers football team won 13-1.

I still ached and was coughing but even so, it was my first big outing! First stop the pharmacy to get some more ‘day nurse’ and then on to Lambousa. It seemed everyone we spoke to either had or still has ‘the bug’. It’s spreading like wildfire.

We then went on to buy more membrane for the gardens and on to the supermarket, Ileli. Potatoes at the moment have been pretty ropey, soft and 2.5tl for a kilo…UK prices! Ileli had some nice small potatoes and they were cheaper. They packed all our bags for us and took all the shopping out to the car. They really are such nice staff in there.

By the time we had done all this I was exhausted. Mal did more of the garden and then we watched the Man City game followed by Arsenal.

Much later in the evening Mal managed to get Sky box office on the internet and ran it through the TV for David Haye’s fight.  A relief that David threw some punches in the last round to secure his title as WBA Heavyweight Champion of the world. Well done David.

A day with the sun out! Mal made the most of it and carried on doing the garden at the bottom of the drive. Hopefully the lorries will stop cutting the corner now and not break our drain any more than they already have done. As it is we own that part of the road anyway! He carried on until he ran out of membrane.

At last I felt a bit more human, even though I did still have a cough and ache. I did manage to potter around in the garden a little. It was nice to see the sun after so much rain, not that I had seen much of anything being in bed.

As there had been so much rain, Mal decided to go and clear the garden at the bottom of the drive and plant it as the soil was no longer rock hard.

In the evening we watched the first two episodes of BBC  ‘Children in Need’s Around the World in 80 days’. Oh dear, Nick cheated!

4th November 2009

It was Super Gary’s birthday so we drove down to drop something off, Mal also went into Starling while I sat in the car and then back home and even that wore me out.

It was also Ollie’s third birthday and he sent us a video thanking us for his present and we rang him in the evening and he seemed very excited, going out for his birthday tea and then they were having fireworks.
